1 Job Description Job Title Branch Business Group Reporting to Location Salary Range $ Purpose Government Enterprise Architect Service and System Transformation (SST) System Transformation General Manager System Transformation Wellington The purpose of the Government Enterprise Architect role is to: Lead the development and establishment of the All-of-Government (AoG) architecture strategy and associated architecture standards, ensuring alignment to the AoG ICT Strategy and supporting achievement of the associated Action Plan Establish of a coherent government enterprise architecture framework that builds in business and information architecture and links these with systems and technology architecture Provide leadership and direction to the AoG Architecture team and to the wider System Transformation Business Group Provide leadership and expert advice to enterprise architects, business and IT leaders across the system in AoG business, information and technology architecture Provide thought leadership and build powerful relationships within System Transformation, across SST and with other agencies and the private sector to drive support and commitment to a centrally led AoG architecture strategy, framework and standards In collaboration with enterprise architecture practices in other agencies, develop a centre of excellence for enterprise architecture across the public sector Key Tasks Leadership Develop and lead a team of Enterprise and Standards architects to develop and execute a centrally led AoG architecture strategy and architectural standards that inform and guide Agency architecture investment and programmes, including: o Developing a coherent government enterprise architecture that builds in business and information architecture o Developing AoG standards for technology interoperability and information sharing Proactively work with, and support agencies to, develop ISSP s that are aligned to the AoG ICT Strategy, architecture strategy and relevant architectural standards and policies Provide strategic and thought leadership to the SST leadership team, the System Transformation Group and other government agencies on AoG strategies and standards to promote and influence commitment to an AoG centrally led Architecture strategy Provide thought leadership across government and to the wider enterprise architecture community Create and lead an effective community of government architects across the sector to ensure adoption and implementation of ICT functional leadership, the Government ICT Strategy and Action Plan and BPS

2 AoG Architecture Work Programme Lead and promote the development of Enterprise and Standards Architecture capability across government to meet AoG Architecture requirements Manage provision of capability/resource to agencies to support the develop of agency specific architecture strategies that align to AoG architecture strategy and standards Develop an Architecture Framework and Toolkit Develop and AoG ICT Sector / Cluster Architecture Blueprint Oversee the implementation of the extended Enterprise Architecture Framework for Government, the new security and risk standards, processes and practices and the metrics and mechanisms for AoG ICT initiative benefit realisation Relationship Management Proactively identify, establish and build networks across all-of-government Create highly effective and value adding relationships with DIA and all-of-government (AoG) stakeholders to ensure a common understanding of, and commitment to, a centrally led AoG architecture strategy and architecture standards Ensure vision for government enterprise architecture is brought to life for key stakeholders by ensuring it is relevant and topical, and by communicating complex and abstract ideas in a way that is easily understood and interesting Work with Enterprise Architects across government to ensure they are leveraging their influence to ensure buy in to, and the success of, centrally led ICT initiatives People Management Successfully manage people within the Team including responsibility for developing and maintaining positive employee relations; the successful operation of the Department s performance management system to drive desired levels of practice, behaviour and performance; meeting the Department s effectiveness for Maori and equal employment opportunities, goals and objectives Apply the Department s recruitment, induction and development tools to recruit and retain team members with the appropriate mix of skills and competencies to design and implement AoG architecture and standards Building capability within the team by ensuring the implementation of development plans, promoting a continuous learning environment, providing learning opportunities and though effective coaching and mentoring of individual team members Managing communications and the flow of information to and from the team so that individual team members are kept informed of and are aligned to Group, Branch and Departmental initiatives, objectives and priorities Corporate Responsibilities Use resources responsibly for the benefit of the Group and the Department Participate in Department, Group and Unit development initiatives Undertake appropriate professional development; maintain currency of professional expertise in order to maintain or build credibility Undertake other tasks that the department may reasonably require Contribute to the promotion and effective implementation of changes to policy and procedure for the benefit of the department Health & Safety (for self) Takes personal responsibility for keeping self free from harm Follows safe working procedures Government Enterprise Architect Page 2 of 5
