Failure to return the completed IT Checklist and Inventory on time will result in the cancellation of the install check, which is a billable charge. Practices hosting the application locally, must affix a map of your network infrastructure and a brief description of how the proposed equipment fits into your back up and redundancy plans. Include additional network configuration information, if applicable, such as Windows clustering, SAN storage, and hardware load balancers. 3 High-Speed Internet Use the following checklists and tables to document the High-Speed Internet network: High-Speed Internet must be available at all locations. Recommended connections include DSL, Cable modem, T1 (must be dedicated; cannot be shared with voice), or T3 (eclinicalworks cannot install using dial-up). Set up the main firewall for your network to block all the incoming ports to your network. Configure the firewall to allow FTP download and upload (ports 20-21). Upload/Download speeds must be sufficient for eclinicalworks to work on the network remotely and download large files. 5 Remote Connection Options Remote Connection Options For practices with multiple locations or the provider would like to access eclinicalworks from home, a VPN connection is required. However, there are other options available. The following lists the options to consider: VPN (Virtual Private Network) A VPN provides secure access from location to location over Internet. There are several ways to accomplish this. The following options provide remote access: Hardware VPN Connections: Static IP address Inexpensive hardware and routers are easy to configure Requires VPN Router at each location Linksys VPN routers work well Server Hardware & Client Software Connection: Static Requires only one VPN router installed at main location Client uses software to connect Can connect securely from any location with just an Internet connection Cisco VPN Routers with 10 client licenses (depending on how many users) Remote Desktop Connection The following lists the specifics of a desktop connection: Static One port must be open (3389) The connection is secure It is part of the operating system The full features of the product like scanning or attaching document are not available eclinicalworks Proprietary, January IT Checklist And Inventory (Appendix F) Client Server 5

6 Equipment Details ecw Remote Services - ers The following lists the specifics of an ers connection (ers is for Workstations only): Tight VNC over SSH It is similar to Remote Desktop Connection Uses very low bandwidth Easy to set up and use Very thin client VNC must be installed on the workstations at the main and remote locations Do not install Microsoft VPN services or Microsoft Remote Access (alias Remote Access Connection Manager) on the server running eclinicalworks. Disable routing and remote services on the server running eclinicalworks. Does your practice have multiple locations? Yes No If yes, do these locations have VPN access? Remote Desktop Connection/Citrix Equipment Details The following table lists the requirements for the servers and clients on the eclinicalworks network. IMPORTANT! ecw cannot support performance issues if any of these items are not checked or are violated at anytime. Server Operating System must be Windows Server 2003/2008 (64 bit). Server is not set up as a DNS or DHCP Server. Server is not set up as a Domain Controller, VPN server, RAS server, or RDP server. Internal static IP is assigned for the server. Connect the server to the main switch or router directly for better performance. Internet Explorer version 7.0 or later is installed on all computers. 7 Equipment Details Server must have a minimum of 80 GB of hard-disk space free on the C: drive (or the Operating System Partition). A Gigabit switch is mandatory when there are greater than 20 users or the practice is has multiple sites. Gigabit network cards for the server are required. ecw Remote Services (ers) is installed on your eclinicalworks and all computers. The eclinicalworks Installation and Support team use ecw Remote Services to connect to the server and other workstations at your practice. Your project manager will provide you with the installation file. Server must not be open to the Internet. The following ports must be closed to the Internet: MySQL 4928 Tomcat 8080 Open the Outgoing Port Range for Support VNC connections. For the AutoPracticeUpgrade to run, ensure Port 80 is open Also, enable FTP Celeron and Duron processors are NOT permitted on ecw workstations due to poor performance issues and will not be supported. The cache, clock, and bus speed are much lower than the Pentiums and this causes performance issues. All workstations/laptops must have an operating system per the hardware requirements. ecw does not support all-in-one printing/scanning/copying devices. Clients must have a minimum of 10 GB of hard-disk free space. Install MS Word on any computer where the user will be printing letters or encounter forms. Install MS Excel on any workstation where the user will be exporting reports to Excel. Do not change the computer names after installation. Please note wireless phones will interfere with wireless networks if operating under the same bandwidth. For a wireless connection, install a Cisco wireless router/access points. (Low-end routers are prone to error and will result in wireless speed issues in the over time). 14 FaxServer FaxServer The FaxServer must be installed on its own dedicated workstation/server. Refer to the Hardware Specifications document for hardware requirements. The FaxServer requires an internal Mainpine IQ Express modem, available as single port or multi-port (2, 4, or 8). eclinicalworks recommends digital faxing for practice with fax volume exceeding 1200 pages (sending/receiving) per day. For more details, or to purchase the Mainpine modem, please visit: Note: eclinicalworks supports only the Mainpine IQ Express Modem. Installing a Mainpine IQ Express Modem requires a PCIe slot. Each port on a Mainpine IQ Express Modem can send/receive 300 pages per day. 16 Peripheral Devices Peripheral Devices Indicate the peripheral devices that will be used on the network. Note: Printers must be network enabled. 18 Clients Clients Provide information about all the computers where eclinicalworks will be installed. eclinicalworks will not be installed on any computer that is not listed on the inventory list. If the practice has more than 20 computers, you may provide the necessary information on a separate spreadsheet or document, as long as the following information is provided for each client: Computer Name OS, Memory (RAM) CPU Type CPU Speed Free Hard Disk Space Software/Peripherals available to that computer (Refer to the samples provided for acceptable formats.)
