2 dieťaťa, 46, 2012, č. 1, s PREDSTAVY DETÍ O VLASTNOM TELE A IDEÁLNYCH POSTAVÁCH: RODOVÉ A ETNICKÉ ROZDIELY ANNA KISSOVÁ JÁN FERJENČÍK Katedra psychológie FF UPJŠ v Košiciach CHILDREN S CONCEPTIONS OF THEIR OWN BODIES AND IDEAL FIGURES: GENDER AND ETHNIC DIFFERENCES Abstract: The study s goal was to determine how gender and ethnic influences do project into the creation of children s conceptions of their own figure and ideal figures of their peers and adults. Eighty-seven Slovak and eighty Roma children (88 boys, 79 girls) with the mean age of 8.96 years marked out on picture scales what is their own figure like and, too, how, in their opinion, the ideal boys, girls, adult women and men should look like. The results showed that although the members of both genders and ethnic groups do not differ in the objective BMI measure, the perception of their own figure and the ideal figures image is influenced by gender and ethnicity. Girls see themselves slimmer than boys do, and the Slovak children perceive their own figure as more corpulent than the Roma children do. According to all children, the ideal figures are seen slimmer than is the average BMI, and in the girls fantasies they are visualized even more slimmer than in the boys fantasies. The ideal woman is in the fantasies of boys of both ethnic groups and in the Slovak girls fantasies slimmer than the ideal man. However, the Roma girls see the ideal woman as more corpulent than the ideal man. The ideal of feminine beauty forced by the majority society on them does not probably have such a strong influence as on their Slovak female peers. Key words: body mass index (BMI), body perception, gender and ethnic differences
3 dieťaťa, 46, 2012, č. 1, s POROZUMENIE VETÁM V SKUPINÁCH PO SLOVENSKY HOVORIACICH 6-7 ROČNÝCH DETÍ JANA MARKOVÁ MARÍNA MIKULAJOVÁ Katedra logopédie Pedagogickej fakulty UK, Bratislava UNDERSTANDING SENTENCES IN GROUPS OF 6-7-YEAR-OLD SLOVAK-SPEAKING CHILDREN Abstract: Speech comprehension is a complex phenomenon, which has, in a variety of languages, its general rules and its own specifics, which all allows verification of the validity of various theories. The study presents the first results of the research focused on understanding of sentences in 6-7-year-old Slovak-speaking children. The method used allows monitoring of the impact of syntactic complexity and different linguistic factors. The results enable to describe, in a more differentiated manner, the deficits that occur in children with impaired development of speech. It emphasizes the negative impact of difficulties in comprehension of spoken speech on the children s learning achievement. Key words: comprehension of sentences, linguistic factors, impaired speech development
4 dieťaťa, 46, 2012, č. 1, s DIAGNOSTIKA EXEKUTÍVNYCH FUNKCIÍ ORIENTAČNÝM TESTOM DYNAMICKEJ PRAXIE MIROSLAVA SCHÖFFELOVÁ MARÍNA MIKULAJOVÁ MARTINA ZUBÁKOVÁ Katedra logopédie, Pedagogická fakulta Univerzity Komenského v Bratislave a Projekt ELDEL DIAGNOSTICS OF EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS BY ORIENTATION TEST OF DYNAMIC PRAXIA Abstract: The article brings closer the conception of executive functions and their roles in cognitive development, in language development, and in the development of literacy. The aim is to present the possibilities of diagnostics of these functions by the Orientation test of dynamic praxia by J. Míka and to highlight the pros and cons of this method. The authors proposed a revised scoring system, which differentiates the quality of motor performances in a more refined manner. They developed the up-to-date standards for children of preschool age, too. Key words: executive functions, ADHD, Orientation test of dynamic praxia

DYSLEXIE MARÍNA MIKULAJOVÁ ALENA VELECKÁ Katedra logopédie Pedagogickej fakulty UK v Bratislave a Projekt ELDEL THE ISSUE OF DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA OF SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES OR DYSLEXIA Abstract: The study focuses on the issue of the diagnostic criteria setup of specific learning disabilities or dyslexia from two perspectives the theoretical one based on the International Classification of Diseases ICD-10 and DSM-IV, and from the aspect of pedagogical and psychological counseling practice. It turns out that there is a large discrepancy between these two approaches. Possible causes and consequences of these differences come into the scene. Key words: specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, discrepancy model, diagnostic criteria, IQ
