2 HEATING OPTIONS Intensity of sunlight is influenced by weather conditions and seasons. This means that the Sun is an unstable source of energy. Water in hybrid heaters is heated by solar energy or by combination of solar and stable energy sources (gas or electricity from commercial network). Hybrid water heaters LXACDC/K+M are designed for water pre-heating and heating.. WATER PRE-HEATING For water pre-heating, the water heater is connected next to gas or electric boiler with accumulative or flow-through water heating system, or next to thermal pump, to the source of cold water (Picture 1.). water heaters represent a new technology solution for water heating by environmental-friendly energy sources. The photovoltaic cells collect solar energy from the Sun and transform it into direct electric current to heat water in a boiler. The innovation of the solution is in installation of a heating spiral together with photovoltaic panels so the system does not generate any power losses. This solution is very effective and secures thermal protection and safety control of the entire system. Installation of photovoltaic panels is simple and variable, requires no maintenance, and offers unlimited opportunities of system utilization in households, apartment units, industrial and commercial buildings thanks to simple connection with water a boiler. From the society perspective, it represents production of electricity by using renewable sources. Heating of water by photovoltaic panels is an ecologic and cost-effective way to produce hot water. Such energy is fully consumed by the owner of the system within the household or commercial building. It does not require any official permissions or purchase of additional devices. 1-2 kw POWER

3 Connection of the LX ACDC/M+K water heater and gas boiler enables heating of water even in case of energy break down or limited energy supply. In such case, the water is heated by solar energy or by backup spiral inside the heater activated by the second thermostat. The backup spiral is connected to commercial energy supplier (AC 230 V). This activation enables LX ACDC/M+K water heater to perform as standard electric water heater using the source of electric energy from photovoltaic cells.. WATER HEATING It is possible to use LX ACDC/M+K as independent electric water heater. It operates under the principles of two independent electric circuits (Picture 2.). The first circuit is connected to the commercial electricity supplier (AC 230 V) and the second circuit is connected to ecologic electric energy produced by photovoltaic panels. Both circuits can cooperate together or operate as independent units. Connection to the commercial electricity supplier guarantees hot water even in case of long-term bad weather conditions. Water temperature can be set to desired level by thermostat (e.g. to 45 C). If the pre-set temperature 45 C is reached, the input of electric energy from commercial supplier (AC 230 V) is automatically switched off and water is heated by the ecological electric energy from photovoltaic panels (maximum temperature up to 75 C). P Pre-heated water flows directly to the accumulator in gas or electric boiler. If the water is hot enough, the boiler does not consume gas or electricity from commercial supplier, which provides substantial energy consumption reduction. If the water is not heated enough by the energy from the photovoltaic cells, the water heating process is accomplished in the boiler. In such case, less energy is required to heat the pre-heated water than cold water. Such connection of the LX ACDC/M+K water heaters guarantees hot water also in case of longterm bad weather conditions and saves costs at the same time. The pre-heated water flows into supply of thermal pump instead of cold water. Installing LX ACDC/M+K extends the life time of the thermal pump by approximately 30 %. 1-2 kw POWER

4 DRAZICE It is also possible to accumulate electricity produced by photovoltaic panels via system of two water boilers (Picture 3.). The electricity heats the water initially in a first water boiler which is set for common hot water consumption within household. After the water is heated in the first boiler, the electricity is automatically redirected from the photovoltaic panels into the second water boiler which is connected to dishwasher and washing machine. When using dishwasher or washing machine, the electricity from commercial supplier is not utilised for water heating because they both use hot water from the second boiler. In such case, the second boiler replaces the use of electric battery. The effect is the same minimizing the electricity consumption from commercial supplier. At the same time, the second boiler secures pre-heated water for the first boiler. Such installation requires neither DC/AC convertor for electricity redirection to commercial supplier, nor electric batteries with convertor. Water heater models LX ACDC/M+K and M+KW are equipped with universal built-in spiral for direct current led from the photovoltaic panels. The universal spiral can be connected to photovoltaic energy source of 1.0 kw (120 VDC), 1.5 kw (180 VDC),or2.0kW (240 VDC). 1-2 kw POWER
