1 System Requirements WinServ II Edition Release 2 (R2) Note: All recommendations are current at the time of this document release and show the latest information for the required software. System Requirements for all third party products are not described in this document and must be verified with the manufacturer. WinServ II R2 Office Server Database If the brand of the database is Pervasive SQL it must be installed on the same server as WinServ. In order to take advantage of all the new functionality in WinServ it is required to use Microsoft SQL Server as the database engine. If more than 10 concurrent users will use WinServ it is not recommended to use the Express version of Microsoft SQL Server. For system requirements related to the database engine, please refer to the manufacturer documentation. Virtual Servers When installing WinServ on a virtual server, please refer to the following system requirements bellow. Note that although the following system requirements are followed, there is no guarantee that the performance of WinServ is satisfactory on the virtual server. There are many factors to take into consideration. E.g. it is important that the host server, the physical server that manages the virtual server, has enough resources such as CPU, memory and fast hard drive solution that is designed for virtualization. If WinServ appears to be slow on the virtual server, it is probably due to that the host server does not have enough resources. Check that there are no other virtual servers on the same host server that using too much resources of the hardware. In some cases, it helps to increase the number of virtual processors from 2 to 4 on the virtual WinServ server. The virtualization platforms that WinServ has been tested on are VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V. 2 WinServ Online II R2 Web Application Server WinServ Online Web Application Server is the back-end software that is installed on the WinServ server and handles the access to the WinServ database and integrated features for the WinServ Online-web applications i.e. WinServ Online Service. The Following requirements for the WinServ Online Web Application Server are an addition to the requirements specified in the section WinServ II R2 Office Server on page 1. 3 WinServ Anywhere Server (back-end) WinServ Anywhere Server is the back-end software that is installed on the WinServ Server and handles the access to the WinServ database and integrated features for the WinServ-App. The Following requirements for the WinServ Anywhere Server are an addition to the requirements specified in the section WinServ II R2 Office Server on page 1. Note that WinServ Anywhere does not support the database engine Pervasive SQL and does not require a Visual DataFlex Web Application Server.
