5 Royal Patronage and association with HM KING BHUMIBHOL Established by ROYALITY Royal Varuna Yacht Club founded by HSH Prince Bhisadej with His Majesty the King and other members of the Royal Family participating in Royal Varuna Yacht Club events, having been introduced to the sport by Prince Bhisadej. HIS MAJESTY sport King Bhumibhol and Princess Ubolratana, both keen sailors, regularly sailed at Royal Varuna Yacht Club. Each received a gold medal completing in their OK sailing dinghies during the 1967 SEA games. ROYAL PATRONAGE On 26 April 1965, His Majesty The King became patron of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club and officially opening the present facility on 14 September The KING S CUP Royal Varuna Yacht Club owns and organises the King s Cup held in Phuket each year to mark His Majesty's birthday.

32 Grassroots Sailing Programme Junior Courses Royal Varuna Yacht Club has a comprehensive junior training programme for children aged 8-16 years. Starting with beginners sailing course, progressing through to advanced sailing, all tuition is structured by a team of internationally qualified Instructors (English and Thai speaking) using over 50 modern club boats to ensure that students enjoy their time at RVYC learning sailing in a safe environment.
