2 Who are we The University of Warwick Sailing Club is a committed, dynamic and ambitious university sports club with over 55 active members and a 250+ alumni group. Our members are not only committed students, but also put in a lot of their time and enthusiasm into all of the club s activities! The club has members from across all academic disciplines, ethnicities and nationalities; which makes us incredibly diverse and inclusive! In addition, we cover a wide age range; from first years to finalists, and even postgrads and PhD students. From a geographical perspective, our members are mainly from the UK, but from the rest of Europe and the world, too. We are based at Draycote Water Sailing Club, with whom we have built a strong relationship over the years. We store our six Fireflys here, but also rent club boats for some of our larger events.

3 Our club activities are guided by key values. Firstly, we are open-minded and inclusive this refers to ethnicity, religion or nationality most of all. At the same time, we accommodate all levels of sailing experience in our activities, from the very beginner level to experienced and competitive individuals. Secondly, we aim to make sailing accessible. Unlike many university sports clubs that focus their efforts exclusively on competitive league participation, we specifically offer casual activities: Our social sailing takes place fortnightly on Saturdays, enabling beginners to discover our sport. Our yachting department sets sail at least once in term 1 and takes part in a country-wide university regatta in term 2. In term 3, we organize a sailing tour that is a one-week yachting trip. This is not to forget our highly committed racing team, which forms the heart of our club, and train and race throughout the year. Thirdly, we aim to achieve the best possible results in competitions. All members who take part in our competitions are highly committed and train on a weekly basis. We have clear ambitions for the future of UWSC. For the coming years, we have three main objectives. First, we aim to improve our outreach to students with no prior sailing experience to increase our active membership base. We are providing more frequent casual sailing sessions and social activities to achieve this. Secondly, we want to further improve our performance in competitions. To do this, we have increased the frequency of our training in the past couple years and provided more opportunities for members to develop their skills (e.g. theory sessions, coaching weekends) and progress up the teams. In addition, we are saving up for new boats in order to improve the equipment we have. Thirdly, we aim to strengthen our yachting activities; with a strong interest in these among the club, we continuously endeavour to provide affordable yachting opportunities for our members, having to overcome the high cost of yachting.

5 Achievements Although University of Warwick Sailing Club claims the title of Furthest University Sailing Club from the Sea, that doesn t limit our abilities to compete with the best, be ambitious and achieve great results. - Team Racing At Warwick, our aim in competitions is to constantly build upon previous results to further promote the club both within the university and sailing community. To this end, Warwick competes across multiple sailing disciplines and continues to grow in success year on year. Our main sailing discipline is Team-Racing, a team based sport that many universities compete within. Warwick attends multiple events across the year, building up to the British Universities Sailing Association (BUSA) Team Racing Qualifiers and Finals (affiliated with British Universities and Colleges Sport, BUCS). Over the past several years, Warwick has maintained a good record at these events - winning Leeds 2015 and Birmingham 2014 and placing second at Loughborough Warwick also consistently qualifies at least one team for Finals and in 2014 achieved 7th place out of a fleet of 28 of the best university teams in the country. These successes translate into an increased profile on campus and within Warwick Sport (our university sports body). Our success stories ensure we often feature on the university s social media and in the student newspaper. The university supports us, financially and otherwise, in pursuing our competitive aims.

6 - Warwick Turtle The University of Warwick Sailing Club also runs its own team-racing event called the Warwick Turtle, an event that is now in its 22nd year. It attracts 21 teams from around the UK and Ireland, with over 120 students participating, and is always over-subscribed. We also have two alumni teams participate at the event, and maintain strong relations with our old members. The event is immediately before regional qualifiers for Finals and, as such, has built a reputation as a high-standard competition. - Yacht Racing Warwick also competes in the BUSA Yachting Finals at Southampton, an event that attracts teams from all over the country. Last year, Warwick placed 6th at Finals out of 22 of the best British student yachting teams. In addition, we send a team to a number of match racing events and this year sent two boats to Fleet Racing Nationals for the first time. - Other Achievements We pride ourselves on offering opportunities for all our members, not just those who wish to compete. Every year, we teach a number of members how to sail from scratch. In addition, we have an active social sailing contingent who enjoy the sense of community within our club. We consider our high level of engagement with socials a success in itself for example, our trip to Croatia in summer 2015 attracted over 20 members and was a great opportunity to further build our identity as a club.

7 Packages As a club, we are looking for sponsorship to help improve the equipment available to our members, and promote the club (and your company) across campus. In particular, we wish to purchase high-quality team kit and leisurewear that we can wear sailing and on campus. In addition, we wish to continue our investment into our fleet of Fireflys and are actively saving towards purchasing a new set of boats, to help meet our growing demand. We believe this will result in an increased community of members who are able to enjoy sailing. To achieve this, we are offering a range of sponsorship packages, with differing levels of financial support in return for the following: Bronze 1000 Sivler 2500 Gold 5000 Logo on promotional material and social media outlets o Website, Facebook Page, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram Branded team kit and leisurewear. This will be worn on University of Warwick campus, at sailing events (including Team Racing and Yachting Finals, with around 200 sailors participating) and at our home sailing clubs. As in Bronze, and: Logo on sails. These are used during training, and at events around the country. Campus leafleting and brand ambassadors As in Silver, and: Logo on boat hulls. Exclusive sponsor of the annual Warwick Turtle team racing event Corporate day assistance - a day of sailing hosted by UWSC, focusing on team building and inter-personal skills.
