What are the main aims and purposes of the Policy / Service / Event or Strategy? The purpose of this policy is to set out the standards, academic, experiential and procedural requirements to facilitate a safe, effective and a clinically valid framework for non-medical prescribing practice to take place within the Trust. 2. Who is involved in delivering the service, implementing the policy or strategy / organising the event? (i.e., partnerships, stakeholders or agencies) This policy is applicable to all non-medical prescribing clinicians, Supervising Practitioners, Assistant Directors and Clinical Directors working across all Trust clinical services and locations. 3. What information / data or experience can you draw on to provide an indication of the potential inclusive / exclusive results of delivering this service or event / implementing the policy or strategy to different groups of people and the different needs of people with protected characteristics in relation to this policy / service / event or strategy? 2 Please use the following table to indicate the impact of the policy for the protected characteristics. Protected Characteristics Positive Negative Neutral Reasons for Age There are NMPs within Adults, Childrens and Mental Health Business Divisions who will prescribe to a wide range of patients. Disability Easier access for patients to get the medicines they may require Gender reassignment This policy is consistent in its approach regardless of gender reassignment. Marriage and civil partnership regardless of marriage and civil partnership. Pregnancy and maternity regardless of pregnancy and maternity. NMPs would prescribe accordingly within the requirements of the BNF/NPF Race regardless of race, Religion or belief Personal preferences of the patient will be taken into account during prescribing in terms of cultural or religious wishes ie the composition of drugs would be considered. Sex The patient should be given the opportunity to state their preference in relation to the sex of the NMP. Patients have the opportunity to decline a particular person if that person is not acceptable to them for any reason.

3 Sexual Orientation regardless of sexual orientation. Disadvantaged groups Easier access for patients to get the medicines they may require 4. What positive impacts are there for this policy / service / event or strategy to better meet the needs of people with protected characteristics? As outlined above, the policy allows NMPs to prescribe medicines to a wide range of people within both clinical and home settings to enable easier access for patients to get the medicines they may require. 5. What action would be needed to ensure the policy / service / event or strategy overcomes: Discriminatory negative impacts Exclusion Failure to meet the needs of people from across the protected characteristics and opportunities for promoting equality and inclusion are maximised.
