Wildlife and ecological information, presentations and interactive displays. Berrymill Flow/Bass Lake County Route 4 (off of Route 9, approximately 7 miles south of the intersection with I87, or 3 miles north of Blue Ridge Road) North Hudson NY miles of intermediate level trails that pass three ponds. The first 1.2 miles, to Berrymill Pond, are at a competent beginner level. Map on next page.

4 Camp Santanoni Preserve Route 28N, Santanoni Road Newcomb NY Website: The entire complex encompasses 12,900-acres and offers outstanding examples of rustic architecture. (Motorized vehicles are not allowed.) The 4.5 mi. road to Camp Santanoni (9.0 mi. roundtrip) is wide and smooth and suitable for novice skiers. The Farm Complex at 1.0 mi. is a good shorter destination. The smooth road and Newcomb s snowbelt location make this area ideal for early season or low snow winters. Crane Pond Schroon Lake NY Turn onto Alder Meadow Road, off of Route 9 (by the airport.) Road turns into Crane Pond Road approximately 5.5 miles after turn from Route miles round trip, moderate slopes on unplowed road. Old growth forest leads to a pond. Goose Pond, a 3.0 mile round trip, is another destination from the same starting point. Crowfoot Brook Trail County Route 6/Tracy Road (immediately south of Route 9/I87 intersection) North Hudson NY miles of intermediate level skiing with great terrain ending in a pond. Trailhead often not plowed out, so come prepared to be dropped off or bring a shovel. Map on next page

6 Hoffman Notch Wilderness Area Schroon Lake NY Intermediate skiing for 3.8 mi. (7.6 mi. roundtrip) to scenic Big Marsh. 7 mile through trip to Blue Ridge Road is for advanced intermediates and involves unbridged stream crossings.

7 Hoffman Road Trail Schroon Lake NY Drive 0.5 miles south of Schroon Lake Post Office to Hoffman Road, and then 5.5 miles west on Hoffman Road to the junction of Loch Muller Road. Park there and ski south and westerly to where the trail rejoins the Hoffman road, approximately 1.5 miles. Return by looping back or ski easterly along the Hoffman Road. The trail slope is gentle and rolling.

8 Minerva Lake Minerva NY Lovely wooded trails, easy to moderate slopes, with a Town warming hut, trail markers, and snowshoeing. Moose Mountain Pond County Route 4 (off of Route 9, approximately 7 miles south of the intersection with I87, or 3 miles north of Blue Ridge Road) North Hudson NY The first 1.2 miles, to Berrymill Pond, are at a competent beginner level. 3.2 miles of trail to Moose Mountain Pond with a lean to shelter at the north end. 10 Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area Schroon Lake NY Network of trails that connect 22 ponds with 14 lean-tos. Spectacular mountain views and hemlock forests. Best introduction to the area is 4.0 mi. (8.0 mi. roundtrip) to Pharaoh Lake from the south on an old road suitable for competent beginners. Schroon Lake Municipal Golf Course Hoffman Road Schroon Lake NY Explore gentle slopes on the golf course in winter. Sharp Bridge Campground Trails County Route 9 Approximately 7 miles north of Route 9 intersection with Blue Ridge Road 2.7 miles south of Route 9 intersection with I87 North Hudson NY Serves intermediate level trails to East Mill Flow (3.3 miles,) to Round Pond (additional 0.2 miles,) and to Moriah Pond (additional 1.3 miles.) Map on next page. Stony Pond Minerva, NY Parking by Minerva Lake 6 mile traverse, moderate slopes, runs beside several lakes. Competent beginners can handle 4.2 mi. roundtrip to lean-to on Stony Pond.
