3 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. Martin Luther King Jr. was the leader of the civil rights movement during the mid 1960s. King played a huge role in ending legal segregations of African Americans. In 1955, King helped lead a nation wide bus boycott so the African Americans would no longer be forced into the back of the bus. "We have no alternative but to protest. For many years we have shown an amazing patience. We have sometimes given our white brothers the feeling that we liked the way we were being treated. But we come here tonight to be saved from that patience that makes us patient with anything less than freedom and justice. Throughout King s life, he endured harassment, violence, and intimidation, but this did not stop him. After years, Martin Luther King Jr. proposed a speech called I Have a Dream Although this caused major havoc in the area, King continued to push towards a brighter tomorrow. Martin Luther King Jr. will forever be honored with his own national holiday, schools, businesses, and buildings named after him, and he will forever be remembered in our hearts (Martin Luther King Jr). Born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia to devoted and caring parents; Martin Luther King Sr., and Alberta Williams King. He was a loving father to Yolanda King, Dexter Scott King, Martin Luther King III, and Bernice King. Martin Luther King Jr., was also an attentive husband and friend to his wife; Coretta Scott King. Although Martin Luther king Jr. will forever be in our hearts, he passed April 4, 1968 In my eyes, Martin Luther King Jr. was a true hero because he put his life constantly on the line for the benefit of our future. He did not think he would ever get to see the promised land or live in a life in which he could drink out of the same water fountain as the white man next to him. Martin Luther King Jr. had an image in his mind of working with men of all races, having interracial relationships, sitting in the front of a bus and yet he never thought he would live to see this day. Martin Luther King Jr. fought, march, and continuously stood for America s future, not his own future. Martin Luther King Jr. was selfless, modest, courageous, and brave, those are not many qualities that Americans truly have. He was honorable and patriotic. There is absolutely no other way to show true heroism, than to stand up and say/ do what you believe in. Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero to me because time and time again, he did what no one else would do, said what no one else would say, and fought the fight that no one else would (Martin Luther King Jr).

5 MALCOM X Born on May 19, 1925 in North Omaha Nebraska to Earl and Louise Little. He later married and was a loving husband to his wife; Betty Shabazz. He was a devoted father to Qubiliah Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz, Gamilah Lumumba Shabazz, Malikah Shabazz, Attalian Shabazz, and Malaak Shabazz. He died February 21, 1965 In my eyes, Malcom X was a real hero because he had a very difficult home life when he was a child. Around four years old, his father was taken away from him, several years later his mother was gone, along with his siblings. As Malcom X grew older, he got into a lot of trouble, spent time in jail, and was around a bad crowd for the most important years of his life. He is a hero because he proved to the world that it is possible to switch your life around. Malcom X changed into a minister! He lived the life he taught, he did not sin or do wrong, he followed the rules, and he was a true believer. When he found out the man he looked up to was fraudulent, he did not stop, he continued to preach and teach the ways to his people. He is a hero because he went out of his way to spread his beliefs to Americans, and he fought and yelled and did what he had to do to take care of his home country. Malcom was not only a hero, but a person who changed the world as we know it (Malcom X). When Malcom was four years old. His family's home was burnt to the ground, his father was found dead, his mother was committed to a mental institution several years later and the children (Malcom and his brothers) were separated in foster homes. He survived a rough childhood growing up. When Malcom got older, he started to try and change himself into a better person. Malcom became a minister for the Nation of Islam. He used communication methods, such as the newspaper, to get his messages across to the United States, he led rallies in the United States for race equality (not only African Americans) and sought to unify the United States (Malcom X).

7 STOKELY CARMICHAEL Stokely Carmichael was best known for leading the civil rights group called the SNCC which is an American political organization group that played a central role in the civil rights movement. In one year, Carmichael managed to raise the number of registered black voters from 70 to 2, more than the number of registered white voters in the county. Carmichael had created the popular saying; Black Power in which he said It is a call for black people in this country to unite, to recognize their heritage, to build a sense of community. It is a call for black people to define their own goals, to lead their own organizations. (Bio.com). Born on June 29, 1941 was a loving husband to his wife Miriam Makeba. Carmichael passed on November 15, In my eyes, Stokely Carmichael is a civil rights hero because he made a real change in the way America was. He led a group, and that group made America a new place for African Americans. Carmichael s ultimate goal was to make a ride of the African American people and change the world. He wanted to stand and represent his people and he did. He is a true inspiration because just as a college graduate, he changed the world a lot more than 99% of the people today have. Stokely Carmichael, not only wanted to unite black people but he wanted to unite the country and bring everyone together the way it should be. He only hoped to get the people what each and every one of them deserved. Carmichael showed outstanding leadership and amazed everyone. He lived every day, waiting for a change, wanting to fight for what he truly believed and he is considered one of the most important figures during the civil rights movement. Pushing towards a plan, not knowing if it will succeed, but doing so anyway for the benefit of the future is courageous and impossible for most, but not Stokely Carmichael. There is no other way to describe Stokely Carmichael than energetic, determined, honorable, and a hero (Bio.com).
