1 PORT ST LUCIE The Skylar Schichtel Charity 5K Run and Fun Walk was held at Tradition on Friday November 20 th at 6pm, adjacent to West Fest celebration. The event was to benefit Skylar Schichtel, whose father, Scott, passed away while scuba diving during the July 2009 Lobster Mini-Season. Monies were raised to send Skylar to college when she graduates from Fort Pierce Westwood High School. After the presentation of awards to the runners by Skylar, she was presented with a $ scholarship from Joe Edge, owner of the Tax Shoppe in Port St Lucie. The scholarship includes a new laptop computer when she heads to college. Jon Williams of Miami won first place in the Men s Division, finishing in 18:12. Second place winner was Simon Millar from Ft Pierce in 19:07. Third place went to Dale Ruby of Palm City with a time of 19:46. Ruby was also the winner of the Male Masters award (Age 40+). First place in the Women s Division went to Katrina Gonzalez of Port St Lucie who finished in 23:46. Second place went to Dianne Vargas, Port St Lucie, in 25:32 and third place went to Jennifer Kim, Port St Lucie, in 25:58. Diane Tucker of Port St Lucie was the winner of the Women s Masters Award in 26:47.
