4 Freshmen Admissions Requirements The basic admissions requirements include: Specific high school courses Grades and test scores Graduation from high school

5 College Preparatory Pattern a. U.S. History or U.S. History and 2 Years Government, and Social Science b. English 4 Years c. Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II) 3 Years d. Science with Lab 2 Years (CSU requires one Biological Science and one Physical Science) e. Language Other Than English 2 Years (two years of same language) f. Visual and Performing Arts 1 Year (A single yearlong approved course) g. Electives 1 Year Comprehensive a-g pattern of college preparatory study- 15 Units

6 Grade Point Average The high school GPA is based upon grades earned in all approved college preparatory courses taken in the 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grade CSU will award honors points in the GPA calculation for up to 8 semester courses taken in 11 th and 12 th grade. No honors points are awarded for grades of D and F.

7 Tests & Scores The CSU accepts the SAT I and ACT. CSU only looks at Critical Reading and Math portion of SAT I If a student submits multiple score reports the highest score earned in each single sub score of the examination is used. Example: 1st time: 500 M CR= nd time: 550 M CR= 1100 CSU total = 550 M CR= 1150 Exams must be taken no later than Dec. of senior year (impacted schools may be earlier)

Impaction occurs when more qualified applicants apply for a campus or program during the initial application period than can be accommodated Impacted campus Impacted major As a result, the minimum admission requirements will be raised. 14 Most common asked question What is the minimum eligibility index, GPA, SAT, etc. needed to get into <<Insert name of impacted campus here>>? Answer: It has not been set yet. Eligibility cut off is based on the applicant pool that applies. You can view campus websites for last year s cut off, but it doesn t dictate the cut off for fall 2015 admissions. It is to the student s advantage to be as competitive as possible (i.e. taking A-G subjects, getting A s/b s, etc.

Apply early (don t wait until last week in November) Check your (The address that is on your application is the one we to) TIP: Create an address that you and your parents check Go to a Financial Aid Workshop with your parents Remember that when you are admitted it is provisional (you have to complete your last semester of high school and still meet the admissions requirements)! Do not assume the admissions process is the same for all CSU campuses. Pay attention to communication that is sent to you via and mail.
