Citation: Materials: PUPPETS: Wolf, Three pigs, Rabbit (narrator), Building Inspector PUPPETEERS: 4 puppeteers Props: House of straw House of sticks (one side sticks, other side aluminum siding) House of bricks (one side bricks falling down, other side bricks in top shape) Story Line: Wolf is insecure. Pigs feel sorry for wolf and try to help him. Rabbit tries to get story right. ACT 1: Lights come up. House of straw on lower stage to side. Rabbit enters (upper stage) and announces story. He introduces wolf as big, tough, bad guy. Wolf enters (lower stage). Image holds until wolf speaks. Wolf speaks: (in high squeaky or other Unwolf-like voice) Didn t want the job. Wants to be a CPA (or something). Likes flowers and easy listening music, etc. Rabbit sends him out to do job anyway Rabbit has to go.

2 Tells wolf to get story right, kids depending on him, etc. (Rabbit exits) The first pig s house, made of straws Wolf upset after rabbit leaves. First pig comes looking for wolf (enters lower stage, wolf does not see him/her coming) Pig startles wolf and apologizes Pig brags about house of straw, family, etc. Wants to show him house so he can blow it down. Wolf cries, etc., says s/he cannot possibly do such a thing, etc. Pig feels sorry for wolf. Says that maybe he can help him. (Rabbit enters, upper stage) Rabbit asks what is going on Pig explains wolf s problem and his/her offer of help Rabbit gets upset. Says pigs cannot help wolf. Pigs and wolfs do not get along, etc. Rabbit tells wolf to do his job, be a wolf, etc., (Rabbit exits) Pig and wolf conspire to blow down house together without rabbit knowing Wolf finally coaxed into giving a small little sneeze (pig could sprinkle pepper on wolf s nose) Pig karate chops house of straws which falls down Wolf feels terrible, pig shows wolf how house can be righted by pulling on a rope. (Enter rabbit) Pig quickly lets house of straws fall again. Rabbit happy to see wolf finally getting story right. Sends wolf to next house. (rabbit exits) Wolf mortified. Asks pig what to do. Pig tells him that he ll give him a map to his brother s house but not to tell the rabbit. (Puppets exit. Lights go down)

3 Act 2: 2 nd house house of sticks. Lights come up. On stage, house of sticks, 2 nd pig, and building inspector. Building inspector is speaking to 2 nd pig. House of sticks didn t meet building codes. Will have to be torn down immediately. 2 nd pig pleads for time to fix it. Inspector complains about lack of proper foundation, etc., It s made of sticks, for goodness sakes! Nothing will change inspector s mind. Nothing could make him leave before house is torn down, etc. (Wolf enters) Building inspector sees wolf and greets him. Building inspector continues to tell 2 nd pig how nothing could make him leave. Building inspector stops himself and asks 2 nd pig if he just said hello to a wolf. 2 nd pig nods and says yes. Building inspector looks at wolf, looks at 2 nd pig, looks at audience, and says That s what I thought or something to that effect. He then screams WOLF! and exits quickly. Pigs thank wolf for saving house. Wolf surprised. Wolf wants to stay and help 2 nd pig before building inspector comes back but is afraid of rabbit. 2 nd pig tells him to go on, he is getting aluminum siding put on house. Wolf exits and lights go down. ACT 3: 3 RD House House of Bricks. Lights come up. On stage the third pig sits crying before a dilapidated house of bricks. (Enter wolf) Wolf asks for directions to brick house.

4 3 rd pig cries. He tells wolf he is a failure. He built the house of bricks so poorly that the slightest breeze would knock it down. (house vibrates as he speaks) Wolf tells pig to not worry, he ll help him save his house 3 rd pig surprised, rabbit won t like it. Wolf doesn t care, etc. (enter rabbit, upper stage) Rabbit asks what is going on. Wolf tells him to be quiet because house might fall down. Rabbit starts to comply then realizes what he is doing. Rabbit complains that wolf is supposed to try and knock house down. Wolf says no, he wants to save house, tells rabbit to be quiet. Rabbit goes nuts, says that if he is not going to try to knock down the brick house, he will. (rabbit leaves upper stage and enters lower stage) Wolf moves fast. Agrees with rabbit that he has been too nice. Pig shocked. But wolf tells pigs to get the rabbit. Pigs (1 st and 2 nd pigs enter) join together to surround rabbit. Rabbit complains of being tickled, all exit in a heap. Wolf says Stand back everyone, I ve got a house to save! Lights go down. ACT 4: Lights come up. On lower stage all three pig houses are lined up: the house of straws, the house of sticks (with aluminum siding on it), and the house of bricks (neatly fixed). Rabbit on lower stage laments failure to get wolf to do story correctly. Rabbit blows on house of straws, which collapses and then comes back up. Rabbit apologizes to audience for failing to tell story correctly.

5 Wolf and pigs enter upper stage. They feel sorry for rabbit. So, they sing Lean on Me. Rabbit joins and is happy. Lights go down.
