1 New Marston Primary School Policy Statement for Homework At New Marston Primary School we are committed to the education of the whole child. Through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum we aim to encourage personal fulfilment and enjoyment as well as the children s positive attitude towards their own learning and a self-perception as successful and independent learners. Definition We regard homework as any work or activities which pupils are asked to do outside lesson time, either on their own, or with parents or carers Aims To provide opportunities for parents, pupils and teachers to work in partnership. To provide opportunities for parents, pupils and teachers to work together to enjoy the learning experience. To consolidate learning that has begun in school. To encourage children into a culture of learning for the future. To encourage children to progress towards independence and individual responsibility To support skills to research information in preparation for, and enrichment of lessons To prepare children for transfer to secondary school after Year 6 Guidelines: see table below Inclusion and Equal Opportunities Children have varied life experiences and needs. In consideration of this it is necessary to ensure the curriculum and the means by which we deliver it, is inclusive and provides equal and appropriate access. New Marston Primary School is committed to inclusion. The school defines inclusion as a process of identifying, understanding and breaking down barriers to participation and belonging. In our teaching we aim to provide equal opportunities for all learners, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, impairment, medical concerns, attainment and background. Date agreed..
