1 Home Access + How to access your files from home Home access plus provides staff access to files and folders stored on the School s ICT Network System, this includes: My Documents Shared Work Staff Work Gen Data How to logon to Home Access + Home Access plus can be accessed by visiting the school website at and selecting Staff Area from the links at the top of the page. Scroll down and select Remote Files to continue to the login page. 1

2 At this point you may need to expand the page by clicking on the square icon in the top right hand corner of the page. After selecting the remote files link you will see the login page as shown below Simpy enter your network username and password just as you would if you were in school and click Login. 2

3 The Home Access + Home Page This home screen, provides you with two links My Files and My s. From here you can click on the titles to access different applications or resources. If you select My Files, you will see a similar screen to the one shown below, this can vary depending on what level of access you have been given; teachers, students, admin staff etc. Please note: If you select My s you will be taken away from Home Access plus to the Outlook Web App to access your s, in order to return to Home Access plus you will need to log back in. You can either expand the tree using the left hand side navigation, or you can click on each tile which will take you to the folder you have selected. In the following example we have selected the U: Drive My Documents. 3

4 Please note the first time you login you will receive a popup window containing a help document on how My Files works as shown below. You can read through this if you like as it will provide some helpful tips on how to navigate your way around the site. When you are happy click click the cross button or select close to continue. My Files If you select a file on the system, you will be given a list of available actions as shown below. 4

5 To open a file, simply double click on that file. You may receive a message similar to the one below, if so click ok. Choose open from the popup window. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are planning to work on a file, please make sure to choose save or save as. Save the file to your home PC or laptop in a safe location e.g. My Documents and then open it from there. If you just select open, it will open straight into Microsoft Word or Excel but it will have loaded itself as a temporary file and although you might be able to edit it, you will not be able to save it and any changes will be lost. Once you have worked on any files you can then upload the amended copy back into its original location on the system, using the upload button shown below. 5

6 Select Browse. Select your file and click Open. Select Upload. Alternatively you can also drag and drop files directly into the browser window to upload files to your currently selected location. Please note the drag and drop feature requires Microsoft Silverlight to work, this can be downloaded from 6

7 If you are finished working on your files and would like to go back to the home page simply click on the little blue arrow next to the words My Files in the top left corner to see a pop out sidebar menu. Selecting Home from this menu will take you back to the home page. *FOR SECURITY, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LOGOUT WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED, TO DO THIS SELECT YOUR NAME IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER AND SELECT LOGOUT. If you any problems accessing any of the features from home, please log a support request using the helpdesk wizard in school. *These instructions have been created using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 10, although Home Access plus may work in other browsers information dialog boxes may be different. 7
