4 1. Training (national) seminar in Italy General aspects The Italian Association of Organic Farmers AIAB tries to make sure organic farmers and productions grow in number and shares of the market. In order to do so, we have strong relations with agrarian vocational schools we provide with training, information, data, farm visits, etc. At the same time, the chances for the Herbal Mednet project to be sustainable in the long term would be greatly enhanced by the participation of Vocational Educational Technical Trainers in Agriculture in the pilot as they, year after year, could perform the HerbalMednet training program to the benefit of thousands students and future farmers. Therefore, as soon as AIAB was approved as Consortium project partner in Herbal Mednet, trainers of the VET schools were contacted to engage them in the project. However, schools are not active during summer Months, nor are available to focus on external projects the first few months after opening because school staff is busy with planning the year ahead: thus, in Italy, VET schools starts in late September and are not available for project before November. Moreover, some time was needed to circulate the information in the VET agriculture schools. After the organization of the HerbalMednet national Pilot training session in Italy, Mid of November, enrolling many VET teachers of agricultural schools (over 50%) the majority of them compromised themselves to organize a (national) seminar to evaluate the proposed educational scenario and curricula for organic MAP. Three of them committed to organice an evaluation seminar in the vocational school they belong. Throught not enough time was left to carry out the promised national training seminar (in Italy, schools are closed for vacation a few days around the 8 th of December and again from the 20 th till the end of the month for Christmas and New Year), in San Benedetto VET agricultural school and the on line Herbal Mednet training course was running and functioning. More people expected to participate in this training seminar Assesments comments and remarks to refine the future trainings The collected information of the assessment, shows that participants found the course design appropriated but with a need to improve the existing contens in organic MAP, from the English to the Italian language Some of them found more need for training in TIC s 5
