3 Location and building in The cabinet should be placed in a room which is dry and sufficiently ventilated. To operate efficiently it should not be positioned in direct sunlight or near warm appliances. Please note that optimal cabinet performance is obtained at an ambient temperature between +16 C and +32 C. In environments with both high temperature and high air humidity, the appliance is approved in climate class 4+. Refrigerators: By placing the cabinet in an environment with high air humidity, it might be necessary to acquire extra equipment for re-evaporation of the drip water in the reevaporation pan over the compressor. This equipment can be bought as extras. Stainless steel: cabinets: Avoid placement of the cabinet in a chlorine/acid-containing environment (swimming-bath etc.) due to risk of corrosion. Appliances with drawers must be secured to a stable surface to prevent them from tipping over when the drawers are fully extended. The cabinet can be installed freestanding against a wall or it can be built under a worktop. Important The cabinet must have sufficient ventilation and free air circulation beneath, above and behind the cabinet. The cabinet legs under the cabinet and the spacers at the rear of the cabinet ensure sufficient air space. The drawings show how much air space is needed. A. shows a refrigerator free-standing against a wall. B. shows a refrigerator installed under a worktop (LR/PR170 & LF140). Note the necessary clearance between refrigerator and worktop. This dimension must be maintained to ensure air circulation. If the refrigerator is installed under a worktop and this dimension cannot be observed, air circulation must be provided by making an extract channel in the worktop. 4 Solid/glass door: By placement of cabinets side by side, the minimum distance shown below should be regarded, due to risk of condensation between the cabinets. If additional sensors or similar are to be fitted to the inside of the cabinet, care must be taken to avoid damaging the wiring as this may prevent the appliance from functioning. If necessary, please contact your local distributor or Arctiko for information on wiring location. Cable entries through the cabinet wall should be equipped with a lead-through tube and kit. Such kits are available through local distributors. Whether the standard alarm functions with which the appliance is equipped are sufficient or whether additional surveillance systems or the like are required should be assessed in each specific case. If substances which are either irreplaceable or replaceable only on the expenditure of considerable time, effort or money are to be stored in the appliance, it is advisable to take suitable precautions regarding storage and surveillance. The appliance has been manufactured in accordance with EN : Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres - Part 15: Type of protection "n". Connection in zone 2 environment: The appliance must be connected to the external power supply using a suitable device which mechanically prevents the plug and socket from being separated unintentionally. The connection must be labelled: DO NOT SEPARATE WHEN ENERGIZED Connection in areas not covered by zone 2 regulations: The appliance may be connected in accordance with applicable heavy current regulations. 4

5 Important! Applies to cabinets with glass door and/or drawers: Anti-topple brackets must be installed to avoid the cabinet toppling over when opening the door. The brackets which are delivered with the cabinet must be fastened to the wall behind the cabinet, as shown in the drawings. Fuses and similar must never be removed or replaced while the appliance is connected to a power source. The electrical terminal box must never be opened while the appliance is connected to a power source. The compressor starting equipment must never be dismantled while the appliance is connected to a power source. The halogen lighting must never be dismantled while the appliance is connected to a power source. Whenever electrical components are dismantled or replaced, the appliance must be moved to an area in which there is no risk of ignition caused by the electrical components or gases contained in the appliance. 5

6 Connection to electricity The cabinet is intended for connection to alternating current. The connection voltage (V) and frequency (Hz) are shown on the name plate in the cabinet. Power connection is made by a three pin plug to a wall socket. Any requirement for earthing from the local power supply must be met. The cabinet plug and wall socket should then give a correct earthing. If you are in doubt, approach your supplier or authorized electrician. Warning - this appliance must be earthed The flexible cord fitted to this appliance has three cores for use with a 3-pin 13 Amp 3-pin or 15-Amp plug. If a B.B (13 Amp) fused plug is used, it should be fitted with a 13 Amp fuse. Important The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Green-and-yellow: earth Blue: neutral Brown: live The colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance might not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug. Proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured green-and-yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked "E" or marked by the earth symbol or coloured green-and-yellow. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter "N" or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter "L" or coloured red. In case of technical problems or failure, always contact authorised service personnel for repair. Never open the electrical terminal box or other electrical components yourself. Note that EN contains special regulations regarding appliances in zone 2. Voltage free contact The voltage free contact is providing with a remote alarm in case of temperature alarm, power failure or door alarm, with separate delay. or normally open connect one wire in NO and one in COM. or normally closed connect one wire in NC and one in COM. 6

7 Starting up (PC-Board MPC 46) Code/parameter setting Display Temperature setting P Defrosting Keylock Start/stop Plug in the cabinet To start, press the START/STOP key. When starting up the display will first show the software version of the cabinet followed by the program variant. When the display switches to displaying temperature the cabinet is ready for use. To turn off the cabinet, push for more than 6 seconds. Servicing: Make sure the appliance is switched off at the socket before service is performed on electrical parts. It is not sufficient to switch off the cabinet by the START/STOP key as there will still be voltage to some electrical parts of the cabinet. 7

8 Setting the temperature Temperature adjustments are done by holding the button and pressing either or Confirm the settings by letting go of the buttons. Lighting inside the cabinet - Only applicable to cabinets with glass doors - The settings for the lighting inside the cabinet can be turned off by pressing and holding for 3 seconds. 9 Alarms Alarm codes A1 A2 A3 A6 Door alarm The upper alarm limits, (LHL) is or has been activated The lower alarm limits, (LLL) alarm is or has been activated The low-temperature protection alarm is or has been activated Cancelling an acoustic alarm Cancelling a door alarm: [A1] flashes in the display. Press to cancel. Cancelling a temperature alarm: [A2 and/or A3] Flashes in the display. Press to cancel. The display will continue to flash if the temperature is outside the alarm limits, and will continue until the temperature has recovered. Reading Max/Min temperature Read the higest recorded temperature inside the cabinet by holding down cabinet by holding down.. Read the lowest recorded temperature inside the Reading the alarm history - Example [A2] [A2] flashes in the display - This means that the temperature has exceeded the set value for the upper temperature limit, LHL. Press to cancel the [A2]. The display continues to flash, indicating that there is information in the alarm history. Press, Htt (High temperature time) is shown, press to see for how long the temperature was above the set alarm limit. Press to return to Htt. Press to reach Ht (Highest temperature). Press to read the highest recorded temperature during Htt. Press to return to Ht and press again to leave the alarm history function. The procedure for reading an [A3] alarm is identical, apart from entering the alarm history with the button. When reading out temperatures below set limits, the parameters are Ltt and Lt. A flashing display with no alarm codes indicates that the alarm codes have been canceled, but the alarm system contains information. Resetting Max/Min and alarm history Resetting of the Max/Min and alarm history is done by holding and for more than 3 seconds, an acoustic signal will be given when reset is complete. 10 Defrosting Refrigerator Defrosting is automatically performed 4 times every 24 hours, by circulating the air inside the cabinet during compressor standstill periods. The defrost LED lights to indicate the defrosting cycle is running. Freezer Defrosting is automatically performed 4 times every 24 hours, by a heating element mounted at the evaporator. Manual defrosting If the cabinet is operating under severe load (frequent door opening and frequent replenishment), manual defrosting can become necessary. Manual defrosting is performed as follows: P Hold and for 3 seconds, and defrosting is started. The defrost LED lights to indicate the defrosting cycle is running. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to accelerate the defrosting process. Keylock The keys can be locked and in this way secured against unauthorized use of the appliance. To lock the keys: 1 Press and at the same time for 6 seconds, is shown to indicate the keys are locked. To unlock the keys: 1 Press and at the same time for 1 second, is no longer shown to indicate the keys are unlocked. Illummination Applies only to models with glass door The light can be switched on or off by pressing 5 for 6 seconds. 10

11 Reversing the door The door can be changed from righthand-hinged to lefthand-hinged, or vice versa. To do so, proceed as follows: Models with solid door: 1. Switch off the power at the mains socket. 2. Dismantle the two screws that hold the control panel at front and back, pull the panel a little forward, and then tilt it upwards. 3. Dismantle the hinge at pos. A, and lift off the door. 4. Dismantle the hinge at pos. B, and mount it at pos. D. 5. Turn the door 180, and fix it at the hinge pos. D. 6. Mount the hinge from pos. A in pos. C, and move bracket from pos. C to pos. A. 7. Fasten the control panel again. Apply power to the cabinet again. Models with glass door: The door should only be reversed by a service electrician or an authorised refrigeration company with knowledge of the products. Cleaning Before cleaning, switch off the cabinet at the mains. The cabinet should be kept clean using a mild soap solution. Do not use cleaning detergents that may cause scratches. Regular cleaning of the rubber door gasket to ensure unwanted substances are removed which could otherwise damage the gasket. It is also good practice to regularly vacuum or brush clean the condenser on the back of the cabinet. 11

12 The condenser fan air outlet above the compressor must be free of leaves, paper etc. to ensure normal operation of the cabinet. Cleansing agents containing chlorine or compounds of chlorine as well as other corrosive means, must not be used, as they might cause corrosion to the stainless panels of the cabinet and the evaporator system. Do not flush water directly on or inside the cabinet as this may cause short-circuits in the electrical system. 12

13 Spare parts When ordering spare parts that you can easily fit yourself, please give the cabinet type number, the serial number and the function of the part(s) concerned from the spare parts list. Servicing The hermetically sealed refrigerating system requires no inspection - just maintenance. If the system fails and you cannot find the cause, contact a refrigeration repair service. Disposal If the cabinet for which there is no longer any use is to be disposed of, please do so in an environmentally correct way. There might be special requirements/conditions to be observed. You can obtain information on the disposal of refrigeration appliances from: - Your supplier - Arctiko A/S - Authorities (The local council, Ministry of the Environment, etc.) Cabinet type number and serial number is stated on the name plate.
