1 Overview This standard is aimed at those who install mechanical fire protection s, and sets out the skills, knowledge and understanding for you to commission mechanical fire protection s. The NOS covers the following activities: 1.Plan to commission a mechanical fire protection 2.Carry out final tests to confirm operation of a mechanical fire protection 3.Commission installed equipment SFSMFP5 1
2 Performance criteria You must be able to: Plan to commission a mechanical fire protection 1.identify and agree the relevant final testing requirements applicable to the, including any specialist testing of specific equipment related to the 2.make sure that you have the information that you need to commission the 3.establish appropriate communication with customer and appropriate stakeholders 4.prepare plans of action for commissioning mechanical fire protection s that comply with performance requirements, relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines and codes of practice 5.confirm that required tools, equipment and components are available, in good working order, are suitable and comply with relevant health and safety requirements 6.make sure that measuring equipment is calibrated and in working order Carry out final tests to confirm operation of a mechanical fire protection 7.carry out tests in accordance with performance requirements 8.identify any shortfall or discrepancy in the results which are not in accordance with the performance requirements 9.where required, take and record actions to remedy identified discrepancies 10.record the results of all final tests in format consistent with performance requirements Commission installed equipment 11.confirm that s have been fully installed and meet the relevant performance requirements 12.confirm that all installation documents have been completed, collated and issued 13.take suitable action to minimise potential disruption to customers and any third party normal work activities 14.commission the in line with performance requirements and sequence of operation 15.take action to deal with any problems that arise during commissioning operations SFSMFP5 2
3 16.confirm that sites are clear of tools, equipment, waste and surplus materials when s are handed over to customers 17.identify the integration of associated s and services 18.confirm that all appropriate commissioning records required by your organisation are complete, accurate and passed to the relevant person, including certification SFSMFP5 3
