8 Exterior Locks Contractor Keying Contractor Keying is a security feature that ensures the homeowner that their key is unique. The Contractor Key is the temporary master key. It gives plant personnel, dealers, and service personnel access to all homes with one key prior to homeowner delivery. However, once the homeowner takes delivery and uses their key (the homeowner key), the contractor key will no longer work. Typical keying configuration of JM- EL42SS-KA2C.
