2 The team at AIR Architects bring a wealth of award winning national and international experience, across a wide range of sectors including residential, education, commercial, leisure, masterplanning and urban design. AIR was established in 2010 and currently has offices in London and Kent. Its founder Colm Tamney worked at Foster and Partners for 10 years where he was responsible for several major UK and International projects. AIR is a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Chartered Practice, with professional RIBA and Architects Registration Board (ARB) membership.

14 New house in Chiswick Concept design and planning application for a new house on a corner site in West London which will replace an existing single storey house currently in poor condition. Bay windows follow the rhythm and proportion of the adjacent period houses. The structure will be made from SIP panels for environmental efficiency and off-site construction. The proposed house makes a positive contribution to this corner of the two streets and respects its unique setting, providing a thermally efficient family home. 19 Birdcage Cottage house extension Our new kitchen extension is full of light (quote from Client) Our design cleverly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces and includes a newly created terrace, tiled in similar flooring as the interior, with a contemporary water feature serving as a focal point. Views out onto the garden are framed by numerous feature windows and glass doors. Walls between the sitting room and the former conservatory could be partly removed, forming a wide opening which creates a visual connection between the old and new spaces. Installing a double-sided woodburning stove would further link the ground floor rooms and improve circulation. An important aspect of the design was to link the new and old effectively rather than just creating another addon extension. We oversaw the project from start to finish including design, planning permission, building control approvals, tender and construction. 23 Garden Studio Design and planning application for a new studio at the end of a period property garden. Using permitted development guidelines the studio received planning permission and includes an open plan space with external courtyard and sliding glass doors towards the courtyard. 24 House Renovation and Loft Our client owns an unusual 60 s design end of terraced house in West London. The house is split level on every floor between front and back, with high windows to the rear and none to the side garden. Our design rationalises the internal spaces, creating a new double height space between the living and dining space with direct views to the side garden. Opening this side of the house up to South light brings light deep into the floor plan. Towards the rear new cladding and windows are incorporated giving views to the rear garden, including a new stair from kitchen to rear. At roof level our design takes advantage of the split level arrangement and provides a new bedroom with roof lights, increasing the size of the house. We presented a number of design options for review, finalised the design and successfully obtained planning permission. House Renovation and Loft Private Date: 2013 Location: Chiswick - London - UK

25 House Extension This extension to a two storey maisonette which is a locally listed building in a conservation looks at options for providing an extra bedroom and ensuite at ground floor level. A number of designs were considered and reviewed with the client and then presented to the council in a positive pre planning meeting. Glass rooflights provide natural light deep into the plan, and new staircase provides acces from the first floor living area to the garden. Internal modification are also proposed including upgrading of heating and electrics. Materials chosen are high quality, and the scale of the project is in keeping with the original building. 26 House Extension and Renovation Our design for an extension and renovation of a terraced house in Chiswick West London combines contemporary features which compliment the original Victorian character of the house. An unusual internal layout was reorganised around a new staircase giving better bedrooms, bathrooms and ensuite. On ground floor the existing dark kitchen was moved towards the rear in a new open plan extension, providing a new utility space, dining area, library and formal living area. We presented a number of design options for client reviews, finalised the design and successfully obtained planning permission. The project is now completed. 29 House Extension This extension to a ground floor flat in a conservation larea looks at options for providing an extra bedroom and a more generous family area with extra storage and toilet. The side infill is stepped back so that is not a full wrap-around extension and the character of the existing rear is retained. Glass rooflights and a completely glazed roof provide natural light deep into the plan. 30 House Extension This unique detached house in West London required upgrading. The existing kitchen was extremely dark, with a conservatory and outbuildings that would not comply with current building regulations. Our design opens up the space to a new single storey extension with bifolding doors and glass rooflight, giving a new kitchen, bathroom, dining and living area. 31 House Extension Our client bought this detached house in Balham, South London and wished to reorganise the living spaces for their needs. The design incorporates a new kitchen, dining and living area at ground floor, along with new utility and new bathroom. On first floor there is a new staircase to the loft space. 32 Loft Extension This design for a loft extension to terraced house makes the most of Permitted Development rights for the owners, giving them a spacious new loft with ensuite. The client wished for an interesting and modern extension rather than the typical lofts. Our design creates a metal clad box at roof level, with infill panels of western red cedar cladding, opaque glass facing the neighbouring property which allows light in but obstructs views, and a clear glass door and balustrade with views towards the park. We oversaw the project from start to finish including design, planning permission, building control approvals, tender and construction.
