It must not be referred to as HIAL. In all other communication material, the organisation can be referred to as Horticulture Innovation Australia or shortened to HIA or Hort Innovation. 1
About the publication guide The Horticulture Innovation Australia (HIA) interim Publication Guide is designed for the short term to: reflect the organisation s commitment to producing high quality R&D and marketing outcomes on behalf of Australia s horticulture sector; and to help service providers produce consistent and effective project communication material. A more comprehensive HIA Publication Guide will be implemented following the official launch of the company in When should HIA branding be included? Many HIA projects ultimately involve producing and disseminating material such as: publications (books, newsletters, enewsletters, brochures, etc) scientific papers workshop and field day signage conferences websites and social media milestone and final reports media releases. The material should acknowledge the investment industry and government have made through use of the HIA interim logo and appropriate funding statement. The HIA interim logo and appropriate funding statement should be included in all material from HIA R&D projects. All milestone and final reports must also be completed according to the relevant HIA templates. Acknowledgement is NOT required in HIA marketing material, including product advertising and promotional communications aimed at consumers. Why is the HIA logo and funding statement required? The use of the HIA logo represents the projects undertaken by HIA and acknowledges the contribution funded by grower levies and/or co-investment contributors and the Australian Government. 12
Interim logo Requirements regarding the colour and placement of the logo are outlined on the following pages. HIA does not support the use of individual levy branding and other logos should not be used unless funding was contributed. The Australian Government Coat of Arms should not be featured. Any item carrying the HIA interim logo must be approved by HIA prior to release and distribution. For approval or to request the HIA interim logo package, please contact HIA Corporate Affairs at HIA interim logo / / HIA interim logo Mono black 3
How to use the logo Minimum size The optimum minimum size recommended for reproduction of the HIA interim logo before legibility is compromised is 8mm high x 17mm wide. In situations where the size required is less than the optimum minimum size, only the mono black version can be used and the absolute minimum size is 5.5mm high x 11mm wide. Minimum size (optimum) 8mm high x 17mm wide Minimum size (absolute) Mono only; 5.5mm high x 11mm wide 8mm 5.5mm 17mm 17mm 11mm 11mm Clear space Clear space must exist on all sides of the HIA interim logo to ensure strong and consistent placement of the logo across all applications. This clear space must be free of any other elements such as type, graphic elements or imagery. The clear space must be equal to, or greater than H, which is the height of the capital H in Horticulture. Minimum clear space H equals the height of the capital H in Horticulture H H H H H 4
How to use the logo Non-white backgrounds When it is necessary to reproduce the HIA interim logo on a coloured background or a background that is an image, the logo MUST be reproduced in white, as shown with an absolute minimum size of 8mm x 17mm. Colour backgrounds White logo only Black or dark grey are preferable HIA corporate green is also preferable Other bold colours are acceptable Imagery backgrounds White logo only Plain area on image is preferable Dark area on image is acceptable Light area on image is unacceptable Detailed area on image is unacceptable 5
Corporate typeface Consistent use of typefaces and typography styles helps create a unified corporate style. As part of its interim corporate style, HIA uses a number of typefaces. For professional designers, the typeface is Proxima Nova, which has been used to create the HIA interim logo. It must be used for all material that will be reproduced in print-based mediums. Note, this does not include Microsoft Office documents that will be printed on a laser copier. The secondary typeface is Calibri. This has been used in all HIA corporate templates and styles and is acceptable for communication material such as project reporting. Primary typeface Proxima Nova Light Proxima Nova Regular Proxima Nova Bold Proxima Nova Black Secondary typeface Calibri Calibri Calibri Bold 6
Corporate colours The HIA corporate identity has two primary corporate colours. These are used in the interim logo. HIA also has a secondary colour palette that can be used in publications and other material as demonstrated in this document. The HIA interim logo is available in several different colour formats, depending on its intended use. The and versions are used for offset and digital printing. The version is used for electronic media such as television, PowerPoint or Prezi presentations and projected displays. The hex version is used for the web.
