Responsibilities: Conduct literature review on school based mental health best practices outside of Kansas and contribute to the completion of a written report summarizing school based mental health best practices in US; Conduct interviews and focus groups with Kansas educators and contribute to written report highlighting interview and focus group results; Assist with analyzing statewide survey data from Kansas educators; and Contribute to final written report for KDADS providing recommendations for school based mental health services in Kansas. Kansas (August 2013 October 2014) Anti-bullying policy development and training initiative funded by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Goal: Provide anti-bullying policy development workshops to Kansas educators and administrators to assist schools in developing effective anti-bullying polices and implementing evidence-based strategies for addressing bullying behaviors among students Responsibilities: Conduct anti-bullying policy workshops; Contribute to the development of the workshop manual for attendees; Assist in the development of the Kansans Against Bullying website; Develop cyberbullying-specific material for the anti-bullying policy workshop; Conduct follow up contact with workshop attendees; Assist in providing on-going technical assistance to educators across Kansas; and Collect, analyze, and report follow up data from workshop attendees to KSDE Kansas (August 2012 May 2015) Anti-Bullying Prevention and Intervention Development Initiative funded by the University of Kansas, Office of the Provost, Strategic Initiative Grant Program Goal: Develop and test new intervention strategies for improving school-based efforts to prevent bullying behavior and enhance staff intervention responses in elementary school settings
2 Responsibilities: Coordinate small group meetings with certified and noncertified staff members in each participating school; Assist with staff and student survey design; Coordinate staff and student data collection at each school and manage undergraduate research assistant support for data collection efforts; and Assist with data management and analysis of staff and student data Kansas (Summer 2011 May 2012) Investigation of KiVa Anti-Bullying Prevention Program funded by the New Faculty General Research Fund and the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas Goal: Investigate the impact of the KiVa program on cyberbullying involvement; and evaluate the feasibility of KiVa in Kansas schools Responsibilities: Assist in manuscript preparation by contributing to the introduction and discussion sections on the impact of KiVa on cyberbullying involvement using data collected in Finnish trials of the intervention; Review and assist with editing of the English translations of the curriculum manual; Draft cyberbullying sections of grant proposals to the William T.
