Agilent NgN Analysis System- Summary of Features The NgN Analysis System is the only carrier-class monitoring solution on the market with VoP/Internet Offload and SS7 real time signaling correlation; Protocols supported include MGCP, SS7, SGCP, Packet Cable NCS, SIP, H.323, IPDC, RADIUS and Nortel ASPEN; Detailed call flow records (CFRs) for each call contain all signaling messages, addressing and routing information, quality metrics (delay, jitter), response codes and more; Service measurement records (SMRs) are stored in the database for each and every call. SMRs contain detailed service and performance analysis results, providing information on Answer Delay, Call Duration and Dial Tone Delay, dropped packets; temporary and permanent failure cause codes, Dial Delay and Post Dial Delay, answer seizure ratio and more; All signaling feeds are non-intrusively monitored in a failsafe manner ensuring network connectivity; Extensive call searching and filtering capabilities quickly identify network connectivity issues; Complete call flows are displayed graphically and intuitively, with errors and problems highlighted in red; Full protocol decode is provided for all messages; Call flow records are integrated with Voice-over-Packet and Internet Offload service and performance network measurements into a single correlated database. 5 Powerful NgN Signaling Analysis Capabilities detailed information on every call NgN Analysis System provides you with comprehensive information on every call monitored, covering both calls in progress and calls long terminated. It correlates and stores the signaling messages associated with a call into a Call Flow Record (CFR). It also generates a Service Measurement Record (SMR) for each call, containing performance and quality of service (QoS) measurements. You can aggregate this data by customer, network element or service to provide essential information that helps to support service level agreements, network performance management and network planning. Troubleshooting is fast, easy and effective. You can select an individual call flow record from the list displayed to analyze it in detail. Abnormally released calls are highlighted in red to help you identify problems quickly. Different filters can be set to isolate calls of interest, such as calls to a specific area code or number Extensive SS7 link and trunk status reports provide useful information on hybrid network signaling issues. These include link status, current and average call hold times, continuity check failures, and blocked trunks reports. Network-wide signaling analysis for total network assurance
6 Agilent NgN Analysis System with Service Level Manager service assurance with proactive service and performance management Additional functionality is provided by NgN Service Level Manager, an integrated application providing proactive service/performance analysis and real time SLA monitoring and reporting. This valuable service assurance tool gives you an important competitive advantage, enabling you to differentiate your services through measurable and manageable SLAs. Extensive Service Level Monitoring, Alarming and Reporting The NgN Service Level Manager combines and correlates the available service measurement records by customer, network or network element. Service quality and performance are measured in real-time and shown in detailed graphs. The resulting data can be used to generate baselines automatically or send alarms when performance thresholds are exceeded. You can customize actions including pager alerts, notifications or SNMP traps to any alarm management system. Outstanding service level and performance management
7 You can view automated SLA reports on the quality of service delivered and SLA compliance via a secure Web page using any Web browser. These customizable reports cover service performance, asset utilization, diagnostics and planning summaries. Service performance measurements are stored in a database to help you detect trends by comparing performance over an identical time period days or even weeks earlier. By viewing the service component measurements associated with a specific problem, you can easily determine the root cause prior to it becoming a customer issue. The NgN Service Level Manager is fully customizable, allowing you to add virtually any new service model you require and specify the views and reports you need. You can configure thresholds, test frequency, measurement views, performance reports and SLA reports. Voice parameters continuously monitored include Dial Tone Delay; Post Dial Delay; Call Duration; Call Tear down time; Voice Path QoS measures such as packet loss; and Call Completion/Failure Rates with failure cause codes. 8 Agilent NgN Analysis System in action Agilent NgN Analysis System is the only solution available that offers real time VoP surveillance. It provides detailed information on every call monitored, for calls in progress as well as historic calls, correlating and storing the signaling messages relating to each call in a Call Flow Record (CFR). It also generates Service Measurement Records (SMRs) that contain performance and quality of service (QoS) information for each call. This information enables detailed analysis and troubleshooting even for calls long terminated. Aggregation of this data by customer, network element or service provides vital information for service level agreements, network performance and network planning. Example 1: Detailed signaling analysis and troubleshooting The NgN Analysis System presents time-correlated VoP and SS7 signaling messages and timing information in a graphical call flow diagram. Clicking on individual signal messages displays the complete decoded signal message in a separate window for detailed analysis. The call voice path display indicates the IP end points involved and the IP-RTP quality parameters such as packet loss and jitter.
9 Example 2: Resolving signaling problems With just one mouse click, the NgN Analysis System produces a fullydocumented HTML record of an entire call. The record includes the message sequence chart, including the complete protocol decode of all the messages contained in the call. The record can be used with vendors or interconnected service providers to help resolve problems and ultimately to improve customer satisfaction. Example 3: Service Level Monitoring, Alarming and Reporting Automated SLA report generation on delivered QoS and SLA compliance can be made available for viewing on a secure Web page with any Web browser. These customizable reports include service performance, asset utilization, diagnostics reports and planning summary reports The NgN Analysis System s network wide surveillance and proactive troubleshooting combined with service and performance management provides you with all the information you need for service level management, performance monitoring and network planning. The solution gives you total control over all aspects of your next generation network and real market differentiation. Extending Agilent s access7 Solution Complete visibility across packet-based and PSTN networks NgN Analysis System integrates with Agilent access7 Call Trace to provide a single network-wide call trace view that includes next-generation voice-over-packet and SS7 signaling messages. This combined technology enables service providers to trace calls across hybrid IP and SS7 networks providing complete end-to-end network signaling visibility. Call Trace captures and decodes all signaling messages associated with calls that traverse both the PSTN and the voice over-packet-networks. A call sequence diagram shows all legs of a call and all message flows. Future releases of NgN Analysis System will extend its integration with the industry standard access7 solution to provide network planning capabilities, customer care applications, and business intelligence reports.
