1 Job Title: Quality Specialist - Incoming Inspector & NCM Department: Quality Assurance Reports to: Quality Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Prepared by: Quality Manager Prepared Date: 6/16/15 Approved by: VP of HR Approved Date: 6/17/15 Summary: Performs activities associated with component quality, supplier communication and monitoring: Incoming Inspection, Nonconforming Material (NCM) Coordinator. Provides support for Quality Management System by assisting with product quality investigations, ESD Program coordination, Continuous Improvement projects, and internal audits. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 1. Incoming Inspection In collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, reviews component drawings and datasheets for specification requirements. Creates inspection documents for incoming inspection based on specification requirements and appropriate sampling plan. Inspects purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices. Approves or rejects items, and records inspection and disposition information. Segregates and identifies rejected items, pending NCM activities. Inspects production line parts and materials that have been found to be defective, as needed. 2. Nonconforming Material (NCM) Coordinator Maintains the NCM quarantine area. Responds quickly to requests to coordinate (or perform) inspections of stock, WIP. Segregates and holds suspect NCM materials. Collaborates with program managers, buyers, accounting and suppliers regarding the disposition of NCMs. Works directly with stakeholders to investigate NCM issues, including product impact, inventory levels, product costing and finding root cause. Initiates and communicates Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to suppliers, as needed. 1
2 Maintains the NCM database to document nonconforming material information and actions taken to resolve the NCM issue. Performs trend analysis of NCM data. Prepares routine reports for Quality metrics. Communicates critical issues to Quality and Operations. 3. Quality Management System Support ESD Control Program Support Assists Quality Manager with coordination activities for the ESD Control Program. Coordinate ESD compliance verification audits. Assist with ESD training and mentoring of ESD Champions. Maintains ESD Qualified Parts List and ESD supplies. Coordinates smock testing. Product Quality Investigations Assists Quality Manager and Mfg Engineering with internal investigations of WIP and FG nonconforming product. Assists with CAPA investigations for product quality issues, as needed. 2
3 Continuous Improvement Identifies opportunities to improve the quality management processes; develop work instructions and job aids. Participates in continuous improvement projects. Supports company mission by implementing Lean practices, as possible. Internal Audits: Performs internal audits as assigned per audit schedule. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Required Skills: Knowledge of components used for electronic and electro-mechanical assembly. Knowledge of ESD Control per ANSI/ESD S Ability to write brief summaries, documents and s in a clear and professional manner. Ability to communicate verbally with production employees, managers, and suppliers effectively and professionally. Intermediate computer skills. Able to learn and operate software programs. Ability to prioritize work duties and seek out/give assistance when necessary. Knowledge of IPC standards. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of ControlTek's database software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and internet and applications.
