4 Confession of Faith Luther s explanation to the 1st article of the Apostles Creed I believe God has created me and all that exists. He has given me and still preserves my body and soul with all their powers. He provides me with food and clothing, home and family, daily work, and all I need from day to day. God also protects me in time of danger and guards me from every evil. All this he does out of fatherly and divine goodness and mercy, though I do not deserve it. Therefore I surely ought to thank and praise, serve and obey him. This is most certainly true. 6 New at Trinity this Advent Advent midweek worship services This Advent we will be holding special midweek services at Trinity, similar to what we do in the season of Lent. A meal and pizza will be served each week from 5-6:15 p.m. in the Christian Life Center, and then we will share in a worship service at 6:30 p.m., also in the CLC, joining together in Light & Peace, a beautiful, sung liturgy of Evening Prayer for the Season of Advent. Tidings of Comfort and Joy This season can stir deep emotions within each of us. Many children greet the Advent of Christmas with joy and excitement, whereas those who have lost loved ones during the past year may find great sadness in the very same event. Thankfully, our God meets us wherever we are, both physically and emotionally. This Advent series gives voice to the complex situations and emotions with which we greet the coming Messiah and uses the reactions of those who first received the news of Jesus birth (Zechariah, Joseph, Mary, and the shepherds) to help us celebrate the coming Christ no matter where we are on our journey in faith. These services acknowledge responses of fear, confusion, doubt, and curiosity, while the coming of Jesus promises comfort and joy for each one of us.
