Morrison, senior associate editor Despite a still-struggling economy, respondents to Safety+Health s 2011 Salary Survey reported higher compensation and were more optimistic about raises and bonuses than in previous years. Of the 15,491 people who received the survey, including both National Safety Council members and non-members, 1,801 people filled it out for a 12 percent response rate. This is a slight increase from 2010, when most respondents said they earned between $60,000 and. The majority of respondents had at least a four-year degree, with 24 having an advanced degree. While a plurality of respondents (16.5) have worked in the safety and health field for 25 years or longer, 29.1 of respondents have been with their current employer for four or fewer years outnumbering any other length of time. More than one-quarter of respondents identified themselves as being years old. Safety+Health November

Of the respondents with a high school diploma or some college, most did not receive or expect to receive a bonus. Most respondents without an advanced degree reported having no employees who report directly to them (45). However, more respondents with an advanced degree reported having 1-5 employees who report directly to them (40.7) than any other number of subordinates. 40 Safety+Health November 2011

8 Salary survey 2011 Raises and bonuses Only 29.1 percent of respondents did not receive nor expected to receive a raise far less than previous years.
