2 Course Description The Fifth Annual Fetal Echocardiography Symposium at UCLA will provide attendees with another thoroughly revised, but still clinically-oriented dynamic series of state-of-the-art presentations directed toward all health-care professionals involved with fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography. An internationally acclaimed faculty (ultrasonography, maternalfetal medicine and pediatric cardiology) will present an extensive clinical review and update on the performance and interpretation of fetal cardiac imaging, focusing on tips and pearls gained from decades of experience. Through clinically-oriented presentations and live scanning sessions, attendees will update their understanding of the newest guidelines for fetal cardiac imaging. Presentations will review key aspects of how to optimize image quality, how to scan and evaluate the normal fetal heart, and how to evaluate abnormalities of the four chamber view, outflow tracts and the three-vessel view. More advanced presentations will review important clinical pearls related to pulsed/color Doppler, arrhythmias, heterotaxy, heart failure and hydrops. Opportunities for questions and discussion will be provided. Target Audience: The Fifth Fetal Echocardiography Symposium is targeted to health care professionals involved with scanning the fetal heart, either for screening low-risk pregnancies or for performing detailed fetal echocardiography in high-risk pregnancies. The symposium is aimed specifically towards physicians (obstetricians, perinatologists, radiologists, pediatric cardiologists, and neonatologists), obstetric/cardiac sonographers, obstetric/neonatal nurses, and physicians/ sonographers in training. Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this intensive, one-day symposium, participants will have gained a greater understanding of the following areas: Optimal approach to scanning the fetal heart in the low risk pregnancy Technical aspects involved with optimizing image quality and angle of acquisition Acquisition/interpretation of the normal and abnormal four-chamber view Acquisition/interpretation of the normal and abnormal outflow tract views Acquisition/interpretation of the normal and abnormal three-vessel view Acquisition/interpretation of fetal arrhythmias Acquisition/interpretation of fetal Doppler Evaluation/interpretation of fetal hydrops and heart failure
