1 Moving Data from a Yahoo! Store To Your NetworkSolutions E-commerce Site There are three main tasks that you need to complete to successfully move your data from a Yahoo store to your new e-commerce store: Export data from Yahoo!, Copy/add data into the NetworkSolutions spreadsheet, and Upload into new store. Task #1: Export Data from Yahoo! store Follow these steps to export your products information from Yahoo! : From your Yahoo! control panel, under the Process list, click on the Inventory link. This will bring you to the Inventory List page. From the tabs at the top of the page, click on Upload. Find the button on the right-hand side of the page. From the drop-down list, choose the table that contains your product information. Click again. The data will download to a spreadsheet in a format called Comma-Separated Value, or.csv, with a default file name of data.csv. Select Save to Disk to save the.csv file to your PC.
2 Task #2: Copy Data into NetworkSolutions.CSV file In order to upload the data into your new store, you will first have to make some changes. The NetworkSolutions.CSV is different since we do not format our data the same way that Yahoo! does. There are also additional fields that you may want to complete for all relevant information to appear on your NetworkSolutions store. ::Important Notes The Yahoo!.CSV file contains 19 fields for data; however, the NetworkSolutions CSV contains over 30 data fields. Not all are required, but the NetworkSolutions store allows you the option to enter these additional details. If this is your first upload to your NetworkSolutions storefront, you will first need to download a blank spreadsheet. From the Import/Export screen just select the Products radio button and click Export file. Then save it to your PC. The first thing you will need to do is copy the information from data.csv, into the NetworkSolutions spreadsheet, called products.csv. The second thing you will need to do is make sure that the copied date is readable by the NetworkSolutions software. The following table shows which fields from data.csv map to similar fields in products.csv. without any additional formatting. (Letter in parentheses identifies the column location.) If the field name in data.csv is (E) Ship Weight (K) Description (P) Name Then copy the data into (L) Weight Major (D) Long Description (B) Name ::For Pricing fields In data.csv, If you used (M) Price as the MSRP: Copy (M) Price to (I) MSRP Copy (R) Sale Price to (H) Customer Price In data.csv, if you used (M) Price as the Customer price, copy (M) Price to (H) Customer Price ::Important Notes You cannot simply rename the columns in data.csv and upload that, nor can you move columns around in products.csv. The NetworkSolutions upload function looks for each of the columns in the spreadsheet, in a specific order. If it does not find what is expected, it will not complete the upload. Fields that may need some help first There are some fields that will need minor adjustments in products.csv before you can import them to your store successfully. Categories Categories in the Yahoo system are downloaded just the same as any product and they look the same with one difference. There is a field in Yahoo s data.csv, labeled Orderable, which is a Yes or No field. If this field, for a given line item is set to Yes, it is a product; if it is set to No, it is a category. You cannot import to or export from categories in the NetworkSolutions store, so we suggest you delete all lines that you have identified as a category. If you don t delete them, the NetworkSolutions store may try to import them as products, which could be very confusing.
3 ::Other things to remember about categories in your NetworkSolutions store. Categories in the NetworkSolutions store must be set up individually in the MCP. Each product you upload must be assigned to a category to display on your storefront. Upon upload, if you have NOT assigned a product to a category in the spreadsheet (under (P) Categories) a default category (aptly named Category) will be created and your product will be assigned to that category. Assigning your products to a category is simple. Open your products.csv file and find the column (P) Categories. Enter the category name. If the category does not exist, it will be created. If it does exist, your product will be assigned to that category. NOTE: For subcategories, enter both the category and subcategory in the same cell, following this format: Category ~ Subcategory So for example if you have a category called Candles, and a subcategory under that called Scented, enter that into the cell as Candles ~ Scented. Variations Some of your products may include variations, such as size or color. Variations can be copied from data.csv to products.csv, but you will need to change the formatting. If your product includes data in (C) Options, copy it to (AF) Variations. Change the data so that formatting looks like this: VarGroup variation1; variation2; variation3; So, for example if you have a variation group called Size with Small, Medium, and Large, enter them into the cell like this: Size Small; Medium; Large; For multiple groups, follow the same formatting, except with a ~ between each group. VarGroup1 variation1; variation2; ~ VarGroup2 variation1;variation2 So, for example if you have a group called Size as above, and another called Color with the variations Black and White, enter them as follows: Size Small; Medium; Large; ~ Color White; Black; Task #3: Upload (Import) Your Data To import your data, you will need to know where your.csv file is stored on your PC. You will also have to make sure that the data is in the correct format. Once you are ready, follow these steps to import your products. On the Import/Export screen, under Import a CSV File, click the radio button next to Products.
4 Click the button to find your.csv file on your PC. Browse to the file name in the window and then click on the button. This will place the file location into the Upload File field. When you are ready, click on the button. When you have completed these steps the system will begin the import of your products. When it is finished the screen will refresh and display one of two messages at the top of the Import section: The products import has completed with errors. This means that there was something on the spreadsheet it could not understand, or was missing. When this occurs, you will also see a link in the Status section called View Error Document, which will open a spreadsheet that will list the line item(s) that contain an error, and will give you the error message in the column labeled (AG) Errors. It will also display onscreen all rules for each field of the spreadsheet so that you can compare your information and make sure you are following the rules. If you get this error, make any changes to your original.csv file, resave and repeat the upload process. The products import has completed.
