2 The Pollino N.P. extends over 90,000 ha on the Lucania Rregion of the Appennine massif reaching an altitude of 2267m The belt up to 1200m is charcterized by scarce population of Quercus pubescent and Quercus cerris. Agricultural area present degradation symptoms confirmed by the presence of xerophitic praiers and substitution brushes. Higher level are characterized by large beech woods up to 1800m with dispersed small silver fir woods. Above the tree line are montane xerophytic praiers, calcareous cliff, junipers and Pino Leucodermis
