2 After School Program at Winterville Charter Academy After School at Winterville Charter Academy Creative Classes Our curriculum is the hallmark of Creative Arts Kids. Through children's literature, we find points of engagement with our students on a variety of subjects. The common element through our lessons is the discovery of what excites, stimulates, and drives people to create as we celebrate the fact that everyone has a point of view and that there are numerous ways to express that point of view. Students are encouraged to create, compose, write, draw, paint, act, direct, and choreograph. The lessons feel natural and accessible to every child and are carefully written to be fun and compelling. Our students are excited to come to class and look forward to this special group activity each day. Seeing oneself as a creative person fills one with a sense of possibility that is useful in all areas of life. Teachers comment to us regularly about how our students engage quickly to content and immediately find ways to incorporate themselves in to the subject at hand in their classes at school. Classes encourage group work as well as individual projects. Classes are taught 4:00-4:45 pm daily Mondays: Dance and Movement Tuesdays: Visual Arts Wednesdays: Music Thursdays: Dramatic Arts Fridays: will rotate between seasonal activities, practices and informal performance, and group bonding exercises Homework Guidance Homework is extremely important to us in our after school program. We believe every family should have down time to reconnect at the end of a day without the stress of unfinished work when a child's energy level is low. We offer homework guidance as the first part of our day, after a snack, so that energy and focus are high. We work mindfully to help each child develop a healthy relationship with his or her homework by bringing focus to its purpose and place in the child's education. We help students recall lesson points from the day, ask appropriate questions, and explore answers independently before seeking help. When our teachers offer help, we try to support the teacher's intention rather than reteach the lesson. Homework is corrected and edited with the student. A homework journal is kept so that parents can ask at any point throughout the year about a student's progress and overall relationship with homework. Students are required to be checked out from homework with all homework complete and correct before moving on to class or free play (unless otherwise specified by parents). Free Time We encourage students to play, socialize, and unwind when not working on homework and when class time is over. There are materials and toys for this time as well as outside play opportunities. We work during this time to encourage positive, respectful, and healthy relationships and interactions between our students.

3 After School Program at Winterville Charter Academy Afterschool School Options A) School Year Contract $50 per week due each Monday from the beginning of the school year to the last day of school Program begins at the end of the school day and ends at 6:15 pm. Includes afternoon snack, guided homework help, daily classes and activities in dance, drama, art, and music, supervised outside time and/or inside free play, stimulating prompts for free time that encourage healthy socialization and creative growth. Tuition is prorated the first week of school, August 17-21, 2015, $20 Tuition is prorated the last week of school, June 13-17, 2016, $10 B) Year Round Contract $75 per week due each Monday from the beginning of the school year until the last day of summer Program begins at the end of the school day and ends at 6:15 pm. Includes afternoon snack, guided homework help, daily classes and activities in dance, drama, art, and music, supervised outside time and/or inside free play, stimulating prompts for free time that encourage healthy socialization and creative growth. Also includes summer camp full day camps the entire summer at Creative Arts Kids location Tuition is prorated the first week of school, August 17-21, 2015, $30 Tuition is prorated the last week of school, June 13-17, 2016, $15 C) No Contract Drop In Good option for parents who find themselves occasionally in need of after school care $15 per day, due each day upon pick up each day used Program begins afterschool and ends at 6:15 pm. Includes afternoon snack, guided homework help, daily classes and activities in dance, drama, art, and music, supervised outside time and/or inside free play, stimulating prompts for free time that encourage healthy socialization and creative growth. Available as space permits, priority will be given to contracted students Please note - tuition for contracted students is due regardless of attendance and is due each week - even weeks that include breaks from school. This allows us the ability to offer programming for the days school are out. All families would also pay a $50 registration fee per year, per household. Drop in requires registration. Registered families may also register for summer camp at Creative Arts Kids even if choosing options A or C and will be given the opportunity to register before registration is open to the general public. Creative Arts Kids will also provide pick up service from Winterville Charter Academy to our after school program at the CAK facility on Firetower Road as an additional option.

4 Before School Program at Winterville Charter Academy Before School Options Homework Review If parents request, we will happily offer a homework review to double check answers or gear the student up for the day's lessons. Light Snack A light snack will be offered to students upon arrival. This is optional but we will have available light items for those who may want a snack. Group Activity Each morning at 7:30 we will lead a fun group activity designed to wake up the body and the mind for the day while setting a positive tone and emotion for the day's work ahead. Activities include trust building, group cooperation, focus exercises, yoga, and meditation, encouraging each child to begin the day with mindfulness and enthusiasm. Free Time We encourage students to play, socialize, and gear up for the day by interacting positively with peers. There are materials and toys for this time. We work during this time to encourage positive, respectful, and healthy relationships and interactions between our students. A note about behavior We are not looking for blind obedience, rather we are looking for respectful cooperation from all students at all times. When a behavior arises that is disrespectful to the group or the program we explore natural and logical consequences to teach rather than punish. At no time do we allow one student's behavior to jeopardize the group's goal. This is communicated with all students clearly and they are all given multiple chances and ways to become successful at engaging respectfully with the group. Historically, we have very few behavior issues that last. Most of the time students actively agree that a consequence is fair and are eager to accept it and return fully to the group. We operate with the spirit that all students participate in all activities fully and joyfully. We do not make separate groups for specific students or abilities. Everyone should participate in all activities at a level of comfort at all times. Closings: Creative Arts Kids will operate all teacher workdays and most holiday closings for day camps at the Firetower Road location. The following are the days CAK is closed for the upcoming school year: September 7, November 25-27, December 23-25, December 31, January 1 and May 30. In the event of school closings for inclement weather, CAK may offer day camps if roads permit.

If you wish to withdraw prior to the end of this contract, then a paid fourweek notice is required. Please see FOUR-WEEK NOTICE below for details. Creative Arts Kids, Inc. reserves the right to terminate this contract for any reason without notice. Creative Arts Kids, Inc. reserves the right to cancel or refuse service at any point for any reason. PAYMENTS & LATE FEES You pay your weekly rate every week, no later than Monday. We prefer cash or checks but will run credit/debit cards if needed. A $5.00 Late Fee is added if payment is late - please include it if you pay late. A valid credit/debit card is required to register and will be used to balance account in the event of a missed payment or to make account current due to improper withdrawal. See below for withdrawal procedures. Payments will not be prorated or refunded. FOUR-WEEK NOTICE Withdrawing your child for any reason prior to the end of this contract requires written notice of withdrawal four weeks prior to your intended last day, submitted to the CAK director, not a teacher. The CAK director will count ahead four weeks from the day withdrawal is given to find the date of your child's last day, and that day will be the last day for which you will pay. You are responsible for paying tuition until the last day of the notice, regardless of your child s attendance. PLEASE NOTE: Payment is due for all afterschool and before school students each week EVEN ON WEEKS WHEN SCHOOL IS CLOSED INCLUDING HOLIDAYS. Day camps are included in normal tuition and all are encouraged to attend. Day camps will be held at CAK 1912 East Firetower Road, Greenville, 7:00 am - 6:15 pm. Tuition is due weekly regardless of attendance. The studio will make no evaluation or recommendation whether students or guests are sufficiently physically fit for exercise. It is always advisable to consult a physician before undertaking a physical exercise program. The studio does not assume any responsibility for the loss, damage or theft, of any property belonging to you or the student. Buyer and student agree that the studio and its personnel are not responsible for or liable for any such property even if its loss, damage, or theft occurs on or about the studio s facility. Creative Arts Kids will make no evaluation or recommendation as to whether or not Students or Guests are sufficiently physically fit for exercise. It is always advisable to consult a physician before undertaking a physical exercise program. The studio does not assume any responsibility for the loss, damage or theft, of any property belonging to the student.
