No, I just really want it. Pacing days Unit Overview This unit is meant to teach Kindergarten students about some basic economic concepts. Within the unit students will learn that: All families have needs and wants. People find jobs to help meet those needs and wants. Unit Enduring Understanding(s) Needs and wants can influence how people spend money. Jobs can benefit the community by providing a way to meet the wants and needs of people. Unit Essential Question(s) How can needs and wants influence the way people spend money? How do jobs benefit the economy of a community? Essential State Standards Priority Objectives Explain how families have needs and wants. Explain how jobs help people meet their needs and wants. Supporting Objectives K.G.2.2 Explain ways people use environmental resources to meet basic needs and wants (shelter, food, clothing).
2 Unpacked Concepts (students need to know) Needs are something you must have for survival. Wants are something you would like to have, but it is not necessary, and you could do without it. People work to make money to buy things they need and want. Examples of a variety of jobs. Unpacked Skills (students need to be able to do) Explain the difference between a need and a want. Name different types of jobs that people can have.
