1 RIMLAND VISIONARY OUTSIDER ART SHOW APPLICATION & GUIDELINES Rimland Services NFP supports the most critical needs of adults with classic autism through three programs Residential Living, Developmental Training, and Health & Wellness. Our residents and students are all adults, having matriculated out of every other private and state-based school and/or organization. We commit to providing life-long support to our clients. Our mission is to remove the barriers restricting equal access for adults with autism. In recognition of our 45 th Anniversary, Rimland is hosting a benefit on October 14, 2016 and Visionary Outsider Art Show on October 15, APPLICATION INFORMATION Applications are via to Kathy@PublicInterestFundraising.com with Rimland Art Show Application in the subject line. Please review the Guidelines before applying. Applicants may attach up to 3 digital images of your work. Do not forget to attach this Application form, as well as all required application materials (see below). 2 GUIDELINES Events OPENING PREVIEW PARTY - October 14, PM 10 PM VISIONARY OUTSIDER ART SHOW - October 15, 2016 Open to the Public 10AM 4PM Sponsored by Rimland Services NFP, providing services to adults living with autism and located at 1265 Hartrey Avenue, Evanston, IL. For more information on the organization, go to Eligibility For this show, Visionary Outsider artists are highly individualistic whether self-defined as raw, marginalized, outsider, self-taught, visionary, or naive. This may include artists who face physical, cognitive or emotional challenges. Participants under the age of 18 years old must have a parent s permission to participate. People with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with official legal guardians must have their guardian s written permission to participate. Categories Accepted Painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book, ceramics, stained glass and sculpture. This exhibition does not accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation and works requiring an external electrical source. Submissions must be the artist s original work. Submission Artists must COMPLETE the Application Form above with all required application materials. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Artists are asked to provide a statement about themselves that describes or explains submitted work or, alternatively, a biographical sketch. There is a maximum 250 word limit. Work samples must be submitted as high-resolution images. We are not asking for the originals at this time. File Format: Uploaded images must be in JPEG file format. Maximum file size is 10.0 MB. Digital entries should be jpegs at least 5 x 5 at 300 ppi. Digital entries should have a filename that includes the artists last name as well as the entry number (#1 or #2). Artists may submit UP TO 3 samples of their work. Deadline Application materials must be submitted online using the submission form, as well as all required application materials (see above), no later than 11:59 PM, Friday, August 26,

3 Selection Notification Application and submissions do not guarantee inclusion in the Rimland Visionary Outsider Art Show. The decision to accept entries into the show is based solely on the decision of the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee is comprised of art professionals, collectors, artists, and a member of the Evanston community. Jury notification will be ed by September 16, even if work is not selected. If you do not receive notice from Rimland by September 25, please check your spam folder and contact us via to Kathy@PublicInterestFundraising.com Please no phone calls. Entry Fee Selected artists are required to provide a non-refundable entry fee of $30 by September 30 to help defray costs. Payment to Rimland Services NFP can be made through our website ( using PayPal. Please note that you do not need a PayPal account, only a credit card. Accepted Artwork Requirements Artists may submit up to 3 works that conform to the following guidelines: Artworks must arrive 'gallery ready' and framed 'ready to hang' with picture wire. No saw-tooth hangers, please. All artwork must be labeled on the back with the artist s name, price, and name of piece. Additionally, if any artwork is not ready to hang, we reserve the right to refuse to hang the work. Artwork entered must be for sale. * 2D artwork no larger than 48 x 60 is preferred. Larger pieces may be shown with special arrangements. * 3D and/or sculptural artwork may be no larger than 72 H x 24 L x 24 W. Work may not be suspended from the ceiling or walls. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered. A signed waiver/indemnification form must be returned to Rimland with your acceptance of Rimland s offer to participate in the Show. Insurance Accepted entries will be insured ONLY during the installation and exhibition of work at Rimland Services. The artist is responsible for all insurance and shipping costs during travel. Please ensure that work is clearly labeled and securely packed with reusable packing. Shipped works must include paid return label. Rimland will not be responsible for loss, theft, or damage to work due to inadequate packaging and/or shipping provisions. 3

4 All works must have an insurance value. A signed Insurance Form will be required for all accepted entries. Waiver Agreement Selected artists or their parents or guardians will be required to sign an Agreement and Release/Indemnification provided by Rimland. Shipping Artwork Rimland will not be responsible for the artist s insurance, art transit, artist transportation or accommodations or any other miscellaneous items. Shipped work may be sent via UPS, FedEx, DHL, or USPS. All shipped artwork must be assured of delivery (either by drop off or special delivery) to Rimland no later than Monday, October 10, Work must be sent in reusable packaging with NO styrofoam packing peanuts. Glass or ceramic sculptures and other fragile works must be double-boxed and sufficiently padded to prevent damage in transit. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping and arranging prepaid shipping labels. Shipped works will be returned by November 25th. It is mandatory to include prepaid return shipping labels with your artwork or your work will not be exhibited. We care about your artwork, but will not accept responsibility for lost or damaged items. It is the artist s responsibility to assure that items are properly packed and shipped. Rimland reserves the right to refuse delivery of any item delivered damaged or deemed to be inappropriately packaged and shipped. Sales of Art Artwork will be offered for sale at the Friday evening reception and on Saturday while the show is open. 35% of the sale of each piece of art will go to Rimland Services NFP. Rimland will mail a check to the artist for any sold artwork within six weeks after the close of the show. Use of Imagery If your artwork is selected for admission, your submission to the Rimland Visionary Outsider Art Show signifies your grant of permission to Rimland to reproduce images for promotional materials without compensation and your acceptance of all conditions stated in these Guidelines. All accepted entry images may be placed on the organization website, blog or other social media sites. If your artwork is selected for the show, artists grant Rimland permission to photograph selected artwork for future marketing and publicity without compensation. Artist maintains the copyright for all work submitted. 4

5 Pick-up of Artwork Artists must pick up their work at the end of the Art Show, between 4 6 PM on Saturday, October 15 or on Sunday, October 16 from 1:00 4:00pm. Artwork left behind may be subject to a late fee of $50 per day and/or discarded by Rimland.
