5 Penalties Penalties for Prohibited Conduct placement of restrictions on the issuance, renewal, or holding of a Texas educator certificate, either indefinitely or for a set term; issuance of an inscribed or non-inscribed reprimand; suspension of a Texas educator certificate for a set term; or revocation or cancellation of a Texas educator certificate without opportunity for reapplication for a set term or permanently. Release or disclosure of confidential test content could result in criminal prosecution. State Board for Educator Certification may take any of the above actions based on satisfactory evidence that an educator has failed to cooperate with TEA in an investigation. 18 Proper Test Procedures A Test Administrator (TA) who has been trained in test administration procedures must be present in the testing room at all times during the test and have your oath on you. July July TAKS/STAAR Training 18

19 Proper Test Procedures Please make sure that your testing materials are stored properly in a locked storage place. Never leave your materials unattended. You are not allowed to copy any secure materials without authorization. July July TAKS/STAAR Training 19

22 Proper Test Procedures, cont d.: Students must remain seated during testing. No talking while test booklets are open. TAKS tests are untimed STAAR tests are 4 hours (except English 1-english 2). A clock or stop watch must be available to monitor the fourhour time period. TAKS: Each student must be allowed to work at his or her individual speed. STAAR once the time limit has been reached, students must be instructed to close their test booklets and stop. July July TAKS/STAAR Training 22

25 Seating Charts - STAAR Start and end time for the test session must be recorded on the seating chart. Seating charts must include the names of students testing and the students locations in the room. 26 Breaks Test administrators may allow students to take brief breaks in the testing room during a test session. Breaks are not mandatory. 44 Monitor/Manage Online Test Sessions After a session is started and students log in, you can monitor the status of all students assigned to a test session from the Session Details screen. The color-coded words in the Status column indicate a student s test status. Remember to occasionally refresh the screen. March 2015 TAKS Training 44

46 Conclude Online Test Session The test will be submitted for scoring via the Assessment Management System as soon as the student clicks the Final Submit button. After a student has clicked the Final Submit button, that student s status will automatically be updated to Completed in the Status column on the Student Details screen. If a student clicks the Final Submit button accidentally but wished to finish the test, the campus coordinator must call Pearson s Austin Operations Center. March 2015 TAKS Training 46

47 Conclude Online Test Session Students who cannot finish their tests due to illness or a testing irregularity should not click the Final Submit button. The test should be exited and test administrator will Mark Test Complete. March 2015 TAKS Training 47

49 Stop the Session All students in the session must be in Completed or Marked Complete status. Click the Stop button located on the upperleft corner of the Session Details screen to close the test session. March 2015 TAKS Training 49

50 Stop the Assessment At the end of the 4 or 5 hours, Stop the clock note the time on the Seating Chart announce that the students must put down their pencils and close their booklets.
