13 Conclusion Labour market conditions overall appear to be weakening. Education remains a significant factor in obtaining employment. In Southern Adelaide, the long-term decline in manufacturing employment is offset by growth in other industries (e.g. Retail, construction, education, etc.). Despite weaker labour market, there will continue to be job opportunities. To be job ready, job seekers need to not only acquire technical skills but also employability skills.
