4 Business Plan A. The Venture: Outdoor Living is all about making the outdoors a great experience, we try to create a relaxing laid back environment where people can come out and enjoy the things they love most. Outdoor Living also supplies a more active experience which many people look for. We are so unique to Lake Louise in particular because we are located at the opposite end of the lake were it is a much more relaxing, quiet and peaceful. We have so many unique things to rent for example, are wide variety of equipment. We have canoes, kayaks, and row boats, peddle boats, paddle boards, bikes, along with skates and cross country skis. We also have so many of each item to make it easier to go out in large groups. We run year round with having both winter and summer sporting goods so we can keep customers busy all year. When starting up the business we will have to purchase land at the southwest corner of the Lake Louise were we would build our storing warehouse, offices, dock and create all of our paths. We will also need to purchase all of the equipment that we plan to rent out along with extra things like paddles and safety equipment. Our starting expenses will be very high but our profit will continue to grow with few later expenses.

5 B. The Product or Service: At Outdoor Living we rent out kayaks, canoes, row boats, peddle boats, paddle boards, bikes, along with skates and cross country skis to both tourists and locals. We make all our profit from the rentals of our equipment and our special promotional events. We have three special events in a year one that is profited from the other two just being promotional. Our profited event is when we bring in trainers for our activities that customers can take classes with and we give out free burgers and cold drinks. There are so many things that make us unique like how friendly and willing to help all our staff are, but one major thing that sets us apart is that we not only supply so many different sporting options but we also have multiple of each option available so that you can participate in large groups. We can have teams come in and book our canoes to do bonding activities. Also all the paths they are ours so they are less busy then the ones you will find on the other side of the lake. We also try to make every detail perfect that is why we have benches along all our paths and water fountains just outside our offices; we also have free lemonade in the summer and hot chocolate in the colder months. Something else that is very important to the staff at Outdoor Living is our customer's safety that is why we supply each with a whistle and those on the water with life jackets and we have helmets. We know that there are many businesses that rent outdoor sporting equipment out but not many have the options we have or the remote relaxing location that we do. Outdoor Living is located in one of the world's most beautiful place; our location alone is worth the trip to Outdoor Living. Marketing and Prices The great thing about Outdoor Living is that our client base is so large, we are a great option for locals who are looking for a weekly workout and we are also good for tourists who are looking for a one time experience to see the lake. Someone else that could be drawn to us is, companies and teams that could do team bonding activities with our equipment. Prices Kayak/ canoe/ paddle board/ paddle boat/ peddle boat- $30.00/hr Per additional hour $15.00 Mountain Bike- $15.00/hr Adult Skates- $10.00/2hr Child Skates (12 and under)-$5.00/2hr Helmet- $4.00 Adult Skis- $40.00/2hr Child Skis (12 and under)- $20.00/2hr All Day Pass- $85.00 $ Damage Deposit that will be returned to customer when equipment is returned in good condition. I came to these prices from looking at other rental sights and comparing different prices to come up with a middle ground, I also took into consideration location and under pricing competition. We have our three promotional days the trainer day, our night under the stars were we go out on the full moon and send of fireworks and lanterns from all our paths and the water, and our other promotional night is in the winter when we give out hot chocolate have a camp fire create the ultimate snow day. We also promote at the Fairmont Chateau Hotel (Lake Louise Hotel) along with having a billboard along the high way and broachers around at local gyms. Outdoor Living will only be local to people. In order to rent form is you will have to travel to us to use our serves; but you can book online from any were. For first few years we will be renting from just one location but do plan to eventually expand to more location.

7 D. Workers: I personally own Outdoor Living, but do have 7 employees. I have 1 fulltime assistant manager that will be trained by me the manager, I have 1 technician that is fulltime and will need training before hand, 3 part time outdoor maintenance workers who cut the grass and shovel the snow off the paths no training needed for this position, along with 2 part-time workers to fill in were needed also trained on the job. # of workers in field Position Pay per hr Full time/ Part Time 1 Assistant Manager $25.00 Full time 1 Technician $32.00 Full time 3 Maintenance $17.00 Part time 2 Part-Timers $11.00 Part time (Full Time Hours- 40 per week, Part Time Hours per week)

8 E. Day-to-Day: At Outdoor Living we have seasonal hours, in the summer we open 9:00am to 8:00pm and in the winter 9:00am 6:00pm and year round Sundays open 1:00pm to 6:00pm. We are open every day of the week to fit into our customer s schedules. We can purchase most of our supplies from the local sports check and Canadian tire or online to get the best price possible. There is not very many regular expenses the supplies we will need to buy on a regular bases is wax for the skis in winter, hot chocolate or lemonade, office and cleaning supplies. You can only rent from our one location but you can book both online, in person and over the phone.

9 F. Money Plans: To start up Outdoor Living it will cost approximately $904, I plan to pay 25,000 worth from savings and the $879, will be taken out as a loan. I hope to pay my loan back at $3, a month with a 6% interest rate in the end it will take us approximately 24 years to pay it off. 10 (I came to all these prices from researching taking what I found and averaging it) Sales Goal for the Year: Our total sales goal for the year is $2193, this number came from estimating the average amount of people we would have rent in a week we also took into consideration the what season things would be rented in along with holidays may bring in more or less customers. Expenses for the Year: Our total expenses for the year are $349, I came to this number from looking online and braking down the prices into categories and researching approximate prices for each.

11 G. I chose this business idea because I love doing all these things and feel like there are not enough places that supply so many different things that you can try at one place. My friend Kauron Cooper and I often go out kayaking together. I would strongly consider starting this business in the future because it is something I love doing and there is a lot of profit that can be made also I think that the people you would meet running this kind of business would be very interesting. Logo I chose to go with a tree from a logo because Outdoor Living is all about enjoying the outdoors, I thought that an all black tree was bold and eye catching adding the swirls is what made it our own.
