Downloading the Setup Program

1 The Web DPAS scanner software (DpasAit) is used for automated inventories as well as various other tasks which can be performed separately from the Web DPAS interface. The installation is performed in three steps: Download the setup program from Web DPAS Copy the setup program to the scanner Run the setup program on the scanner Downloading the Setup Program The following process takes place on the PC. 1. Select PDCD Sftwr Install from Web DPAS AIT menu 2. Select the operating system that corresponds to the operating system on your scanner. 751G Win CE.net Intermec PPC2003 Windows Mobile Select the Continue button. 4. IF you chose Win CE.net or Windows Mobile 5 you have the option to disable the Take a picture feature your scanner may have. To do so, select the Disable Take a pictr checkbox. 5. Select the Download button 6. Select Save in the File Download dialog box. Page 1 of 8

2 7. In the Windows Save As dialog box, navigate to your desktop and select the Save button. 8. The setup.cab file is now located on your desktop Copying the Setup Program to the Scanner Before the setup program can be copied to the scanner a guest partnership must be established between the PC and the scanner. Please review the Microsoft ActiveSync reference document for additional information. 1. Minimize all programs so you can view the PC s desktop. 2. Right-click on the.cab file you downloaded in the previous step. 3. Select Copy 4. Open ActiveSync by double-clicking on the icon in the system tray Page 2 of 8

3 5. Select the Explore icon on the toolbar 6. Verify that the active address is Mobile Device. 7. Right-click in an open area of the Mobile Device folder and select Paste Page 3 of 8

4 8. Select OK in the File Conversion dialog box. 9. The file is copy and converted onto the scanner 10. The setup file is now on the scanner. Page 4 of 8

5 Running the Setup Program on the Scanner The following process takes place on the scanner. The scanner should be fully charged prior to completing the following steps. If you receive dll errors, please see the Error Troubleshooting section. 1. Remove the scanner from the cradle. 2. Double tap on My Computer on the scanner desktop or go to Start > Programs and select Windows Explorer (File Explorer for Pocket PC 2003) 3. Verify the Address is My Computer. 4. Locate and double-tap on the WCE.CAB file. 5. The installation process will begin. Page 5 of 8

6 6. When prompted, select the OK button located in the upper right-hand corner on the installation location screen. 7. The installation progresses and will reboot once. Page 6 of 8

7 8. When prompted, select the OK button located in the upper right-hand corner on the Installation Location screen one additional time. 9. Once the installation is complete, you are returned to the scanner desktop. 10. Ensure the application was installed properly by Selecting DpasAit from the Start > Programs menu. 11. You will see the DpasAit main menu screen. Error Troubleshooting If you receive a dll error during installation, please complete the following procedure and run the setup program again. 1. On the scanner, click on the Start Icon and go to Settings > Control Panel 2. Open the Utilities icon and click on the Registry Save tab at the top. 3. Remove the checkmark from Enable Registry Storage so that it is unchecked Page 7 of 8

8 4. Ensure Enable RTC Restore is checked, and click OK at the top. 5. Remove the battery from the scanner. 6. Hold down on the small black reset button for approximately one minute to reset the scanner. 7. Put the battery back in and turn on the power on the scanner. 8. If the scanner completely reset you should be prompted to do a calibration with the stylus. Follow the calibration steps. If not prompted the scanner was not fully reset, repeat steps 1 through The scanner will finish boot up and display the desktop/main screen. Page 8 of 8
