2 About the awards The Mixology Awards are unique. Judged by an independent panel of experienced architects, designers and consultants, the Awards concentrate entirely on the UK commercial interiors market. Awards will be judged on merit regardless of company size. This blend of relevance, independence and focus endows the Mixology Awards with high value and recognition in the sector. Why enter T he independent endorsement of your company s expertise and professionalism Use of the widely recognised branded winner logos for use on your website and marketing /public relations material Our winners report positive results including higher awareness, sales and levels of staff morale Judging Our judging panel comprises key players in the British office interiors industry. 3 How to enter Please complete the accompanying form (page 8) with all relevant details. Each entry should be: In A4 or A3 format S uitably illustrated, with an explanation of why the entry should be considered All supporting material should be concise, clear and professionally presented Please also send an electronic copy of the entry to Rebecca@mixinteriors.com along with the completed form on page 8. 4 The categories Product of the Year Surfaces Product of the Year Interior Accessories Product of the Year Lighting & Technology This award is for the best new surfaces product of the year. The product such as flooring, textiles, wall covering must be new and in manufacture. Strong consideration will be given to products with key features in the areas of: Sustainability Innovation & Technology Design originality Ease of use Aesthetics Commercial Viability Entrants in this category must provide one small sample (no bigger than A3 size) of the entered product to assist the judges. Products must have been introduced to the market between April 2015 and May Please supply your RRP ( ) and Launch date in the entry form. This award is for the best new product of the year that falls outside the categories of furniture and surfaces. The award category is aimed at the most innovative product developments, ranging from decorative accessories through to ground breaking monitor arms, kitchen and bathroom accessories and shelving/ racking. The judges will be looking for: Ergonomics Innovation & Technology Functionality Aesthetics Originality Sustainability Commercial viability Products entered for consideration must be new, in manufacture, and launched supply your RRP ( ) and Launch date in the entry form. The award is for the best new product of the year that falls outside the categories of furniture and surfaces. The award category is aimed at ergonomic products, power and cabling solutions, IT/furniture interfacers, lighting products, decorative luminaires, LED technology or indeed products that have a strong element of technology in the manufacturing process. The judges will be looking for: Ergonomics Innovation Functionality Aesthetics Originality Sustainability Commercial viability Products entered for consideration must be new, in manufacture, and launched supply your RRP ( ) and Launch date in the entry form. 4

5 Product of the Year Furniture This award is for the best new furniture design of the year. The product must be new and in manufacture and will be judged by an independent panel against a number of benchmarks. These include: Sustainability Commercial viability Innovation & Technology Ergonomics Functionality Aesthetics Business success Products should be new to the market and launched between April 2015 and May Please supply your RRP ( ) and Launch date in the entry form. Commercial Interior Project of the Year Small or Medium (Sub 50,000 sq ft) The award will recognise the highest standards of design which support an organisation s business objectives. Our independent panel of judges will assess the design on how it meets the following criteria: Improvement on productivity Support of HR attraction and retention strategies Environmentally friendly Impact on the bottom line A project can be submitted by an architectural firm, design practice or a design and build firm and must not exceed 50,000 sq ft. Your entry must clearly state the project size in sq ft. The project should have been completed supply your project size in sq ft, state project value ( ) and the completion date in the entry form. Commercial Interior Project of the Year Large (Over 50,000 sq ft) The award will recognise the highest standards of design which support an organisation s business objectives. Our independent panel of judges will assess the design on how it meets the following criteria: Improvement on productivity Support of HR attraction and retention strategies Environmentally friendly Impact on the bottom line A project can be submitted by an architectural firm, design practice or a design and build firm and must exceed 50,000 sq ft. Your entry must clearly state the project size in sq ft. The project should have been completed supply your project size in sq ft, state project value ( ) and the completion date in the entry form. Public Sector Interior Project of the Year The award is open to any project commissioned by or on behalf of central or local government, including governmental agencies and includes Education and Healthcare projects. The award will be judged on premium levels of quality, where it can be demonstrated that architecture and design contribute towards the delivery of first class public services. The judging panel s criteria will include: Productivity enhancements Environmental and community contribution Personnel wellbeing Value for public money Submissions will be accepted from both the design practice/company responsible for the design of the space or a manufacturer heavily involved in the project. The project must have been completed supply your project size in sq ft, state project value ( ) and the completion date in the entry form. 5

6 Breakthrough Environmental & Sustainability Giving & Social Impact Award Fit-Out Company of the Year The Mixology Breakthrough award will be awarded to either an individual or organisation that has emerged throughout the past year - maybe a new member of your team, an emerging designer, a Specifier, a dynamic post grad addition to your team, a new manufacturing or design brand or a fresh face to the UK design community that has made a great impact. The award will be presented to a company judged to have made the most positive environmental and social impact during the year. The judges will look for evidence of a cohesive, integrated approach, covering the following areas: Design Materials Product development Manufacturing Marketing This year we will recognise an inspirational project that has been undertaken by your company or an individual within your company. Either supporting a charity or a community project, the judges will be looking for: Benefits to the charity/project Benefits to the team Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Community Involvement The project should have been completed between April 2015 and May The award will recognise the success of an interiors Fit-Out and/or Design and Build company over the past year. Our independent panel will judge applicants based on: Growth Environmental practices Innovation Entry to new market sectors Project success Client retention Transport Responsibility to local and global community The Fit-Out and/or D&B Company of the Year award will be judged on demonstrable merit. 7 Furniture Provider of the Year Design Practice of the Year Designer / Design Team of the year Manufacturer of the Year The award will recognise a furniture provider/dealer that can demonstrate significant impact and success in the past year. Our judges will assess achievements in the following areas: Major project completion Growth and expansion Investment Marketing initiatives Financial performance Team wellbeing The award will acknowledge the supremacy of an A&D practice which can demonstrate that the overall quality of its work over the past year exceeds the norm. Our judges will be looking for: Quality Innovation Problem solving Adherence to budget and deadlines Meeting clients strategic objectives New market penetration This award acknowledges any product designer or in-house product design team whose creativity has made a genuine impact on the commercial interiors sector over the past 12 months, and has caught the attention of the market s leading specifiers, from carpets and office accessories through to desking, seating and finishes. Our judges will be looking for: Innovation Impact on manufacturers business Aesthetics / Quality design Commerciality The award is open to any manufacturing company based in the UK or overseas, that can demonstrate significant impact in the last 12 months. Our judges will assess achievements in the following areas: Product launches Major project completion Growth and expansion Community involvement Investment Marketing initiatives Financial performance Team wellbeing You will need to describe to the judges what makes your company stand out from the crowd.
