1 JOB DESCRIPTION Role/ Title: Reports to: Assistant Content Producer MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To assist the Digital Media team in creating and managing content for the Royal Opera House group s digital platforms. Key Accountabilities and Activities Digital Content Management Ensure that the Royal Opera House digital platforms, including websites, digital screens and mobile apps show timely and accurate information Assist with the creation of educational content under the direction of the Administer and deliver a regular programme of content updates for the homepage of under the direction of the Content Producer (Marketing and Campaigns) Edit and create new sections of the Royal Opera House website, using our content management system Support the content updating needs of the wider organisation, and to manage day-to-day and editorial queries Keep up to date with and be responsive to technological advances in digital media production Content Creation Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in the digital output of the Royal Opera House Make a creative contribution to the Royal Opera House Digital Media team and be a source of imaginative content ideas Write original copy and edit existing text for the Royal Opera House websites, educational resources, digital screens, customer s and mobile platforms as directed Contribute to and maintain the Royal Opera House blog and social networking sites to ensure that they display appropriate and up-to-date information Contribute to our search-engine optimisation programme by undertaking linkbuilding activity Create and edit assets using Photoshop, Final Cut or other software packages, under the direction of the Take photographs, which may be used on any of the Royal Opera House content platforms Participate in setting up, recording and editing audio and video content
2 Create pages for the website and digital screens, and work with the Education Department and the Artistic Companies to ensure all information is correct Demonstrate best practice for online content creation, particularly usability and accessibility Secure approval and rights for created content under directions of the Content Producer (Learning) Repurpose existing content created from other departments from around the Royal Opera House in an appropriate style and tone Team Support Support the Digital Media Team with administrative tasks, research, video logging, asset creation and content uploading, as appropriate Ensure appropriate standards of asset management are maintained in our content management systems and network Continuous Development Ensure that no content brings the Royal Opera House into disrepute Maintain and grow existing relationships within the team, the rest of the organisation and exterior partners This Job Description reflects the current situation. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Knowledge / Skills and Experience Content Management Basic HTML and web editing skills Experience of updating complex websites in a timely and efficient manner Experience of using web-based content management systems and other databases Experience of publishing to social-media platforms Familiarity with software for multimedia production (audio, video) Content Development Experience of researching for new projects and fact-checking information Experience of copy-writing for digital platforms Picture research skills and a good eye for image selection Basic image manipulation skills, using Adobe Photoshop Basic photography skills Basic audio and video editing skills Project Management Good organisational skills Ability to prioritise own workload and deliver to deadlines Excellent attention to detail and accuracy People Skills Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of people Page 2 of 3
