1 Competition Information Artistic Gymnastics in Guadalajara 2011 Competition Date and Location The Artistic Gymnastics competition at the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 will be held from Saturday 22 to Friday 28 October 2011 at the Nissan Gymnastics Complex. Events and Medals The events to be held in the Artistic Gymnastics competition of the Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 are: 19 Women Artistic Gymnastics Medals Standing Gold Silver Bronze Total 1 Team Competition All Around Vault Uneven Bars Balance Beam Floor exercises Total Men Artistic Gymnastics Medals Standing Gold Silver Bronze Total 1 Team competition All Around Floor exercises Pommel Horse Rings Vault Parallel Bars Horizontal Bar Total

2 XVI PAN AMERICAN GAMES GUADALAJARA 2011 Competition Format Competition I Qualification 20 a. This competition determines the Team Champions and the qualification for Competitions II and III. All NOCs qualified by team have the right to participate with a team of 4-6 gymnasts. Not allowed seventh alternate gymnast. A team shall have no more than five gymnasts competing on any single apparatus ((with notice of the gymnast who is out of competition in that apparatus according the starting order) and the four highest scores will add up for the team s total. b. Men s category includes exercises on six apparatuses. Women s category includes exercises on four apparatuses. c. Only gymnasts who perform in all the apparatuses are eligible to qualify for Competition II. Two vaults are necessary to qualify to the vault finals (according currents FIG Points Code). The qualifying score is based on the average of the two scores. d. For the team and all around results, only the first vault will count. Competition II (Individual All-Around Final) a. This competition determines the All-Around Individual Champions. 24 gymnasts from Competition I will take part in this competition, and a maximum of two finalists per country will advance. The competition consists of six exercises for men and four exercises for women, according to the FIG regulations. b. In the event of a tie at any place, the qualification will be given according the next criteria: 1. The most number of highest scores in all apparatuses obtained in Competition I (the total of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 apparatus final scores in MAG and the total of 3, 2, 1 apparatus finals scores in WAG). 2. The most sum of E scores in all apparatuses (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in MAG and 4, 3, 2, 1 in WAG).

3 3. The most sum of D scores in all apparatuses (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in MAG and 4, 3, 2, 1 in WAG). 4. If the tie persists, all gymnasts not excluded by the foregoing process will participate in Competition II. c. The results from Competition I are not carried forward on to Competition II (scores will start out from zero). In case of a tie at any place in Competition II, the tie should not be broken. Competition III (Finals per Apparatus) a. These comprise the finals on each apparatus to determine the medal winners. 21 b. On each apparatus, the top eight gymnasts with the highest total scores on each apparatus in Competition I will execute an exercise. A maximum of two gymnasts per country on each apparatus will be allowed. Gymnasts must also follow FIG regulations to warm-up. c. In case of a tie at any place in Competition I, excepting vault, the tie will be broken as follows: 1. Average of the four counting E-jury deductions 2. Average of the three lowest of the four counting E-jury deductions 3. Average of the two lowest of the four counting E-jury deductions 4. The lowest of the four counting E-jury deductions 5. Average of the five lowest E-jury deductions (if available) 6. Average of all six E-jury deductions (if available). d. In case of a tie at any place in vault in Competition I the tie will be broken as follows: 1. The highest score out of the two vaults; 2. Average of the eight counting E-jury deductions 3. Average of the six lowest E-jury deductions (three from the first vault and two from the second vault); 4. Average of the four lowest E-jury deductions (two from the first vault and two from the second vault);

Average of the ten lowest E-jury deductions (five from the first vault and five from the second vault) 7. Average of the twelve E-jury deductions (if available). e. The results of Competition I are not carried forward to the finals per apparatus (scores will start out from zero). The results of the finals determine the champion on each apparatus. 22 f. Maximum Number of Competitors According to the quota established by PASO, there will be a maximum number of one hundred and fourteen (114) male and female competitors in both categories for Artistic Gymnastics. NOCs may only send competitors who have qualified through the system established by FIG and UPAG for the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara Not allowed seventh alternate gymnast. Age of Competitors Male Artistic Gymnasts: over sixteen (16) years old on Female Artistic Gymnasts: over sixteen (16) years old on Qualification System for Guadalajara 2011 The qualifying event for the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 is the Pan American Championship 2010, held in Guadalajara, Mexico from August 30 to

The technical meeting will be hosted on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Pan American Village at time to be announced. b. Two representatives from each NOC maximum can attend this meeting, with the company of an interpreter or an attaché if necessary. c. Team Leaders must collect their invitations for the Technical Meeting from the SIC at the Pan American Village, upon arrival. d. The Technical Delegates and the Artistic Gymnastics Competition Manager will preside over the meeting, which will be conducted in both english and spanish.

7 Judges and Juries a. The judges and jury will be selected according to the UPAG regulations. Each NOC will present the indications of its own judges to the UPAG Technical Committee who will appoint the judges. COPAG will appoint additional officers if is necessary. b. The Jury of Appeals will be formed by two representatives of the Executive Commission of UPAG; one shall function as President and a third member who is not active in the competition appeals and in the Superior Jury s decisions. c. The Superior Jury will be formed by the President of CT/UPAG and the respective members of CT/UPAG. d. To act as a Judge in the official UPAG competitions, the judge must own the FIG Brevet, category I, II, III or IV, current at the period of the competition. e. The UPAG Technical Committee will appoint the judges according to the participation per team or individual. The auxiliaries may be summoned as line and time judges and they shall be appointed by UPAG. f. For each apparatus, UPAG will name a secretary who will aid panel D. Protests and Appeals The disputes will be solved according to the FIG/UPAG Regulations. The Appeals Jury and/or the Superior Jury will decide according to the UPAG Regulations. Only protests about Note D will be accepted according to the FIG/UPAG Regulations. Competition Draw The competition draw will be defined by UPAG in a date previous to the Pan American Games Competition Venue The Artistic Gymnastics competition will take place in the Pan American Gymnastics Complex, located at 2189 Colon Avenue, Industrial Zone, Guadalajara, Jalisco.
