The work is on acoustic correlates of rhythm in the speech signal and is mainly based on the construction of a copus (BonnTempo-Corpus; see publications) comprising speech from different languages at different speech rates. The results of rhythmical changes according to speech rate are currently being evaluated in perception tests. PhD is expected to be finished early Oct May 2000 Masters course in phonetics and linguistics Masters course in the Department of Phonetics as well as the English and German language department at Trier University with the following focus: a.) Phonetics: Empirical and experimental methods in articulatory, acoustic, and auditory phonetics as well as forensic phonetics. Mainly studied with: Prof. Hermann Künzel and Prof. Jens-Peter Köster. b.) English and German linguistics: Methods of corpus linguistics. This project work was part of the position as an undergraduate research assistant for Prof. M. Stubbs at Trier University (see below). Jan July 1995 University of Santiago de Compostela and the Galician language institute a.) Studies in Galician and Spanish language at the respective departments. Examinations passed successfully for both languages. b.) Project work supervised by Dr. M. Gonzalez Gonzalez (director of the Galician language institute) on vowel formants in Galician language and influence of native language on average pitch production. Project was marked by course supervisor in Trier with a 1 st. July 1994 Summer course on Galician language and culture Course on Galician language and literature as well as social and cultural aspects of Galician society at the University of Santiago de Compostela in cooperation with the Galician language institute.
