5 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Big fish ventures can be sought in either solitude or in good company. Most often, friends and fellow fishermen provide for sparring, taking on any encounter with fish in talks and reflections upon the fishing conditions, the flies being used and so on. Still, many of those magical moments do seem to find way to the fisherman when he is alone, deeply engaged in his sport, blending in with nature and for him to share later on: be that in a matter of minutes when rejoining the rest of a scattered fishing party at rendezvous, or at a much later time getting together and sharing latest experiences anew. Anyway, so has it been for me through the past decades. In this specific context, I will mention but a few of the participants, if one would call them that, some of those persons who have made me, as a participant, evolve in my approaches and practice. My thanks go to my friend Paulo Behrens who is a fine fisherman and also introduced me to the South American (or Golden) Dorado. Together we share perspectives on fly fishing in South America.
