2 FABRICATED STEEL TAPPING SLEEVES INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Verify pipe O.D. and sleeve range to insure proper sleeve is being installed. 2. Block main line pipe during installation MATERIAL and operation. SPECIFICATIONS 3. Check surface where gasket will seat to make certain pipe is free of flaws, gouges, flat spots or extreme irregularities. 4. Thoroughly clean gasket on tapping sleeve and entire pipe surface to be covered by the sleeve. 5. Lubricate both sleeve gasket and pipe Body surface and with Outlet suitable Nozzle: pipe lubricant. Steel ASTM A Place Branch-side shell with the flange facing in the direction of connection line. DO NOT ROTATE SLEEVE ON PIPE. (Make sure Test Outlet faces up.) Bolts, Nuts: High Strength, low alloy steel, ASTM A-242, AWWA 7. Make sure gasket is not distorted. C-111 ANSI A21.11; Optional Stainless Steel 18-8 Type Place Back-side shell on pipe and insert 1st bolt through centermost bolt hole. Place washer over threads and run the nut down approximately 1. Gasket: SBR ASTM D-2000 BA508, 212 degrees F. max. operating 9. Insert second bolt directly opposite 1st bolt. Place nut and washer on bolt and finger tighten both starter bolts. temp. (max.) +Note: Not recommended for PVC, polyethylene, thin wall and flexible pipe. 13. After attachment of valve, use 3/4 test outlet to pressurize sleeve and check seals. Verify torque of nuts after tap is made. FAILURE TO TEST ALL SEALS PRIOR TO TAP VOIDS ALL WARRENTIES. Thoroughly clean pipe surface. 2. Check surface where gasket will seat to make certain pipe is free of flaws, gouges or extreme irregularities. 3. Lubricate pipe and face of gasket with suitable lubricant, i.e.: pipe lubricant. 4. Position outlet half of body on pipe making sure outlet is aligned with branch line to be connected. Never position so that rotation is required. 5. Position back half of body and install bolts. 6. Block pipe on either side of tap area to support during operations. 7. Flange Tighten center bolts first, working DIMENSIONS towards outside. Number Test Pressure 8. Size Tighten bolts evenly. A Alternate B from one Cside of sleeve D to the other. 3 STYLE CFT TAPPING SLEEVES Manufactured with two sections of heavy steel shells and side lugs which bolt together on the main pipe line and seals against a broad throat gasket with a hydro-mechanical lip to assure a positive seal. The flange is recessed to mate with standard tapping valves to MSS SP60 up through 12, for larger flange sizes consult factory. ANSI/NSF 61 EXTRA WIDE FOR SUPPORT AND STABILITY CFT sleeves are designed for reinforcement on the pipeline to spread the load over a wider area and to provide stability during the tapping process. STRONGER - YET LIGHTER THAN CAST SLEEVES Extra strength provides an extra margin of safety against damage to the sleeve in handling, installation, or due to concentrated stress. Reduced weight compared to cast sleeves speeds installation and reduces the load placed on the pipe. EASE OF ASSEMBLY ASSURES PROPER INSTALLATION Simplicity of design permits CFT Tapping Sleeves to be installed with a minimum of crew, equipment, time and experience. CFT s have flexible ranges, should you need something special-call the factory for information. STYLE CFT-LP TAPPING SLEEVES Specifically designed by Cascade for tapping and branching C900 and IPS sized PVC. The benefits of this design include specific diameter sizing to avoid ovalling of the PVC. When ordering CFT-LP s, all sleeve part numbers reflect only diameter of pipe and show no range. On PVC, Polyethylene, thin wall and flexible pipe, the bolting torque should be a minimum of 50, maximum of 60 ft.-lbs. Model CFT-LP-ESS : CFT-LP with Epoxy Coating and Stainless Steel Bolts. 3
