1 Objectives: Students will develop proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, preparing them for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification. Students will develop the necessary skills to create, format, edit and use basic spreadsheets. As well as, create and utilize simple formulas with intention to solve business problems. Procedure: Text Book 1 - Excel It! Teen-based Activities for Microsoft Excel 55 interactive lessons and activities introducing new and reinforcing previously learned skills, features and functions on Microsoft Excel Students apply their basic working knowledge of the spreadsheet application to create projects based on real-world data building their skill and ability to navigate and produce professional worksheets. Student review and assess finished projects, analyze and interpret data increasing their readiness for the business world while enabling them to solve business problems. Viveiros, Linda. Excel It! Text Book 2 Learn-by-Doing: Microsoft Excel Six Unit Lessons taught pertaining to the different Excel Menu Ribbons associated with Microsoft Office Each unit contains a Lesson Overview and highlights a new skill for each student to practice. Emphasis on tools and terms are coupled with each lesson within the unit. Students review the lesson, follow step-by-step instructions along with the teacher and create an Excel Worksheet as instructed. Students will complete a Unit Performance activity to measure ability and demonstrate proficiency of each skill from a unit. Students will also be expected to complete a Unit Written Assessment to measure their comprehension or the tools, terms, functions and features presented in each unit and covered by the teacher. Students use telecommunications and other media to interact or collaborate with peers, experts, and other audiences. 3.5 Collect, organize, analyze, and graphically present data using the most appropriate tools (e.g., spreadsheet, database, graphing, and concept-mapping tools). 3.6 Import graphics, photos, and other media into report or presentation, citing sources appropriately. 3.7 Create multiple links among various pieces of information residing in different applications (e.g., a chart imported from a spreadsheet into a word processed report can be linked to update automatically when the data is changed in the spreadsheet). 3.8 Demonstrate how specialized technology tools can be used for problem solving, decision-making, and creativity (e.g., simulation software, environmental probes, computer aided design, geographic information systems, dynamic geometric software, graphing calculators, music composition software). Students will receive an overview of the interface and learn the various methods for entering and editing data. Additionally, participants will learn the various ways to write simple formulas with intention to solve business problems. Learning Outcomes Examine spreadsheet concepts and explore the Microsoft Office Excel environment. Create, open and view a workbook. Save and print workbooks. Enter and edit data. Creating and Editing Charts. Creating and Editing Workbooks. Modify a worksheet and workbook. Work with cell references. Working with Formulas and Functions. Using Advance Functions. (If time permits.) Learn to use functions and formulas. Create, format and edit charts and graphics. Filter and sort table data. Import and export data.
