6 Short Story Line of VUX 2013 EuroCucina 2014 IFA 2014 IFA 2015 Lazer UI Concept New concept resarch, InnoWise First Proof of Concept for Beko Brand presented VUX v.1 Proof of Concept for Grundig Brand. presented VUX v.2 Master Production Sample for Grundig & Arceklik Brand. presented Laser Virtual Interface concept Each product has their own virtual interface that can be invisible when they are not used. After this step, research of the possible technologies to run such UI concepts started. Arçelik Taiwan R&D team joined the project. 6

25 HOW CAN I CONTROL MY APPLIANCES WHEN LAYING ON THE COUCH? HOW CAN I MAKE SURE THAT ALL IS FINE AT HOME WHILE I AM AT THE OFFICE? 25

26 REMOTE MONITORING & CONTROL All appliances within HomeWhiz can be monitored and controlled remotely by a mobile device (Smartphone, Tablet) or TV. CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROGRAM FOR MY WASHING MACHINE IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT FOR ME. I WISH THERE WAS AN EASIER WAY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO KEEP EVERYTHING ON MY MIND. 26

27 EASE-OF-USE // WIZARD WIZARD is a feature to operate the appliances easily, by recommending the right program and options. Consumer has to answer a few questions regarding the fabric type, colour, level of stain, for washing machines and type of dish, dirt level, type of detergent for dishwashers, and the app recommends up to 3 programs to the consumer. Recommended programs are: Most suitable standard program, eco program and a fast program. Consumer can choose the standard program or eco or fast options. MOST OF THE TIME, I USE THE SAME SETTINGS FOR MY APPLIANCES. I WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO MAKE THE SAME SETTINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN 27

28 EASE-OF-USE // FAVOURITES Consumers have different usage habits and these are not always embedded into the pre-set programs. With this feature, favorite cycles as well as Cycle/Auxiliary function combinations can be created. Each favorite setting could be given an exclusive name (e.g. Mom's programme, Dad's shirts, Bath towels, Mom s Delicate China, etc.). Up to 5 favorite settings will be stored in memory for easy operation I KNOW THAT I HAD A USER MANUAL SOMEWHERE AND IT HAD ALL I NEED TO KNOW I WISH THERE WAS AN EASIER WAY TO LEARN WHAT I NEED 28

29 EASE-OF-USE // HELP (GUIDES & FAQ) User Manuals of appliances are far too complicated and long. Consumers do not exactly know how & why to use some functions. By this function the users can understand the functions easily and can make easy troubleshooting via a visual content COOKING IS DIFFICULT 1. YOU NEED TO CHOOSE WHAT TO COOK. 2. YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO COOK IT WITH YOUR OVEN 29

30 EASE-OF-USE // RECIPES Cooking Guide of 82 Recipes Each recipe CONTAINS a list of ingredients AS WELL AS INSTRUCTIONS. Consumer sets the desired recipe from the Cooking Guide and sends this to the oven WITH A SIMPLE TOUCH. Necessary parameters are automatically SET IN the oven. I CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT AND WANT TO HELP SAVE ENERGY. HOW CAN MY APPLIANCES HELP ME WITH THIS? 30

31 ENERGY CONSUMPTION Appliances can be operated automatically during offpeak hours to lower energy costs. Information on off-peak hours should manually be entered into the app by the consumer. "Saving" mode lets the machine operate only during "off-peak" hours. Appliance will be in a waiting mode until off-peak hours. Defrosting the refrigerator, pyrolytic cleaning in the oven, Operation of laundry products and the dishwasher can be postponed to off peak hours automatically. WHEN MY APPLIANCE BREAKS DOWN, IT IS ANNOYING THAT THE SERVICE PEOPLE SOMETIMES CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM BEFOREHAND. 31

32 EXPERT DIAGNOSIS This feature within HomeWhiz enables the collection of performance and usage data of our appliances in the cloud. Whenever there is a problem about the product and the consumer opens a service call, after sales will be able to analyze the performance data and detect the root cause of problem. while they make a visit to the consumer, they will be well-prepared with the necessary equipment and knowing exactly what to do in order to solve the problem. CAN SOMEONE HACK MY OVEN? 32

33 SECURITY Connected HomeWhiz Appliances are not directly accessible over Internet; all communication is mediated by secure HomeWhiz Servers and any access to appliances through these secure channels are subject to strict authorization checks. HomeWhiz Application and Appliances leverage itransport Layer Security (TLS) protocol for appliance-cloud and mobile-cloud mutual authentication and encrypted communication. TLS is the most recent industrial standard for application communication security. It is a cryptographic protocol commonly used also for web sites for example where financial transactions are involved.
