The TS0827 can be connected to the Challenger LAN and programmed on line by Challenger panels, (Version 7 or later), as a standard Data Gathering Panel. 3 4 INPUT DATA GATHERING PANEL MODEL TS INPUT DATA GATHERING PANEL: MODEL TS0827 INSTALLATION GUIDE Mounting: The 4 Input Data Gathering Panel PCB can be mounted in any existing Challenger series metal work which supports the BB format or the special 'B' enclosure. The single B board enclosure TS0305 or Double B board enclosure TS0306 can be purchased separately. Links: TERM: Link is fitted on the first and last device on the LAN. See page 5. Term Link Address Links: GND: This Link connects the negative of the supply to the chassis and earth lug. The link is normally installed. C (Tamper switch requires Normally Open contacts) COMMS D Positive and negative data connection of the RS485 LAN. D Units can be up to 1.5kms from the Intelligent Controller or Challenger, depending on the cable used. Recommended cable is Belden 8723; 2 pair twisted, shielded, data cable. PWR Volt DC supply input. 0V (45mA maximum) CAUTION: Do not connect directly to an AC plug pack. Connections J1: (DGP Inputs) 1 C 2 3 C 4 Inputs require a 10k endofline resistor for seal, 5k or 20k resistor for unseal. Open short circuit or tamper if 'input tamper monitoring' is enabled in the Challenger system options menu. (see connection diagram on page 8). EARTH Earth connection. In a "star" wiring configuration the "TERM" link is only fitted on the devices at the ends of the two longest LAN cable runs. Note that the Shield of each length of Data cable is only connected at one end. 6 4 INPUT DATA GATHERING PANEL: MODEL TS0827 LAN connection: The RS485 LAN is used to connect Arming Stations and Data Gathering Panels (to provide extra inputs) to The Challenger panel. The Four Input DGP must be connected via a 2 pair twisted shielded data cable (Belden 8723 is recommended) from the LAN connection. The shield of any data cable connected to the TS0827 should be connected to earth at one end only. i.e. The Panel or DGP that the other end of the data cable is connected to. It is recommended that where the distance between a TS0827 and the nearest device is more than 100 metres, a separate power supply be used. To power the unit from a seperate power supply, do not connect from the LAN. Connect '' of the local power supply to '' on the Interface and connect 0 volts from the power supply and 0 volts from the LAN connection to the terminal marked. See wiring diagrams on page 5. LEDs: Tx: Rx: Tx LED flashing indicates the Data Gathering Panel is replying to polling from the Challenger Panel. Rx LED flashing but no Tx LED indicates RAS is not programmed to be polled or is addressed incorrectly. Rx LED flashing indicates interface is hearing polls from the Challenger Panel. When Rx LED is not flashing it indicates LAN fault (usually cabling) or Challenger Panel not operational. Earthing: The earth terminals on every piece of equipment in the system that is housed in a metal base, must be earthed by connecting them all to one common earth point via a separate Earth wire run with the LAN cable/s back to the Challenger Panel. The separate Earth wire must be at least 2.5mm 2. A heavier guage is recommended for runs of over 500 metres. The "GND" link must remain fitted. The DGP must not be connected to a local earth. This method of earthing will ensure that the difference in earth potential between any two Challenger products connected to the LAN remains at an acceptable minimum. See wiring diagrams on page 5. Mounting: The four input DGP can be mounted in a 'B' board enclourse (TS0305 optional) provided with a tamper switch. When removing the cover after the installation, be aware that tamper alarms may be fitted to detect removal of the cover or removal of the base from its mounting surface. Only inputs 1 to 4 can be used when a TS0827 is allocated a DGP number.
