WHAT YOU CAN T AFFORD TO IGNORE ABOUT FOOD BASED ANTIOXIDANTS. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 1

THE FREE RADICAL/ OXIDATIVE STRESS THEORY OF PREMATURE AGING. Oxidative stress is the equivalent to rusting of metal, except oxygen combines with the structures of the body - lipids, proteins and nucleic acids (DNA). Free radicals are the active compounds generated by eating highly processed food (such as white bread), smoking and other environmental toxins, lack of exercise, inflammation and the natural processes of the body itself. Oxidative stress is involved in just about any illness or disease process. It is also involved with the processes of being overweight and slow metabolism which are early warning risk factors for most illness and disease processes. WHAT ARE ANTIOXIDANTS? Antioxidants are reducing agents which reverse or quench damaging oxidants or free radicals to minimise, reverse or neutralise the damaging effects. Antioxidants in foods, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium and many phytochemicals (plant nutrients) can eliminate these free radicals. OXYGEN RADICAL ABSORBANCE CAPACITY (ORAC) VALUES ORAC is a method of measuring antioxidant capacities in biological samples. A wide variety of foods have been tested using this methodology, with certain spices, berries and legumes rated very highly. Correlation between the high antioxidant capacity of fruits and vegetables, and the positive impact of diets high in fruits and vegetables, is believed to play an important role in the free-radical theory of aging BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 2

THE FLOURESCEIN MEASUREMENT METHOD OF ANTIOXIDANTS. There are different methods to measure the antioxidant capacity of foods and phytochemicals: Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC), Ferric Ion Reducing Power (FRAP) and Trolox Equivalence Antioxidant Capacity (TEAC). The most popular method is the ORAC determination, which was developed by the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore. The ORAC method measures the inhibitory effect of the phytochemical on azoinduced oxidation of fluorescein. PHYTONUTRIENTS RESEARCH IS CONCLUSIVE. PLANT COMPOUNDS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH! Phytonutrients can: facilitate cell-to-cell communication; modify cellular receptor uptake of hormones; convert to vitamin A; repair DNA damage from toxic exposure; detoxify carcinogens through the activation of the cytochrome P450 and Phase II liver enzyme systems; serve as antioxidants to help prevent various forms of cancer; cause apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells; enhance immune response; help prevent cardiovascular disease; help prevent osteoporosis; help prevent macular degeneration and cataracts. Dietary and supplementation habits should include a wide variety of whole plant foods and whole food supplements. In this way one is much more likely to get much more benefit from the incredibly wide array of phytonutrients found in foods. BODYBUZ. 5 METABUZ THE FOOD LOADED WITH INGREDIENTS HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS. IT TASTES GOOD. A TINY 10.9 GRAMS IS JAM PACKED WITH ANTIOXIDANTS, EXCEEDING MOST OTHER FOODS. Ingredients of MetaBuz Cinnamon Turmeric Decaffeinated green coffee * Kelp * Black pepper* Fennel* Cayenne* (MetaBuz green and red) * ORAC values for these ingredients are not available ORAC per recommended daily serve of MetaBuz Yellow is estimated to exceed 14,573 ORAC units. Most ORAC values for foods are per 100g. The estimated ORAC per 100 g of MetaBuz yellow exceeds 133,697 ORAC units. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 5

TURMERIC AN INGREDIENT OF METABUZ. Ground turmeric contains 159,277 μ mol TE/100g (ORAC units) of antioxidants. This is in the top six of all food, berry, juice and herbal antioxidant ratings. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 6

CINNAMON AN ESSENTIAL INGREDIENT OF METABUZ. Ground cinnamon contains 267,536 μ mol TE/100g (ORAC units) of antioxidants. This is in the top six of all food, berry, juice and herbal antioxidant ratings. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 7

DECAFFEINATED GREEN COFFE, AN INGREDIENT OF METABUZ. This probably contains μ mol TE/100g (ORAC units) of antioxidants. The active constituent in coffee that is responsible for its many health benefits is a compound called chlorogenic acid. It neutralizes free radicals, and addresses the problem of hydroxyl radicals, both of which can lead to cellular degeneration if left unchecked. Chlorogenic acid also helps regulate metabolism. Compared to green tea and grape seed extract, green coffee bean extract is twice as effective in absorbing oxygen free radicals. One of the advantages of using the decaffeinated green coffee bean extract is that the negative effects of coffee are avoided. The chlorogenic acid is thought to boost metabolism by changing the way glucose is taken up by the body. Other benefits of green coffee bean extract include an increase in the effectiveness of pain killers, especially for migraine medications; a reduction in the risk of diabetes; and assisting the body burn a higher proportion of lipids (fats) compared to carbohydrates, which could help with muscle fatigue for athletes and bodybuilders. Metabuz uses the quality Swiss decaffeinated green coffee and is low in caffeine. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 8

KELP, AN INGREDIENT OF METABUZ. Kelp contains trace elements. It has a beneficial effect on the thyroid. Traditional Japanese eat massive amounts of sea vegetables and have low rates of chronic western illness and obesity. Turmeric and cinnamon are know metabolic herbs and hence are of benefit in aiding metabolism, as well as having the antioxidant benefits. BLACK PEPPER, AN ESSENTIAL INGREDIENT OF METABUZ. Black pepper contains a the phytonutrient piperine. It increases the bioavailability of turmeric to the body. In one study, the increase in bioavailability was 2000%. Put another way the amount of 2g turmeric became the equivalent of 40g ingested. 7 EVIDENCE BASED TIPS TO INCREASE METABOLISM Eat 10.9g MetaBuz daily. Eat only when hungry. Set short and long term weight targets. Add lean protein to all meals. Eat a handful of raw nuts daily. Eat fruit and vegetables. Drink water. Tone up with exercise. Get moving avoid car use and lifts. Avoid processed food. BODYBUZ. Biological Control Systems. 45A Loch St Claremont Western Australia (08) page 9

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER- DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. HERE S HOW! Take charge of your health by googling Pubmed and searching the individual ingredients of MetaBuz. Turmeric, cinnamon, kelp, black pepper, fennel, green coffee, and chlorogenic acid return some 8139 peer reviewed scientific publications. Oxidative and free radical damage is involved in just about every illness, disease and aging process. Go to the PUBMED website and search oxidative damage and you will find 29,225 publications on just about every aging, illness and disease process. A good aging review site can by found by googling benbest aging. THE AVERAGE ORAC CONSUMPTION IS WAY UNDER BENEFICIAL LEVELS. WHAT S YOURS? AND HOW MIGHT THAT BE IMPACTING ON YOUR NUTRIENT PROFILE? IS YOUR BODY WHAT YOU FEED IT? Eating seven fruit and vegetables each day supplies around 1750 ORAC units. In order to increase ORAC values in the serum and tissues of the body, we need to increase that intake to approximately 5000 ORAC units per day. The average person receives about 1200 ORAC units daily from dietary intake. MetaBuz yellow contains an estimated 14,573 ORAC units in a daily serving of 10.9g. You are what you eat, act now.
