1 Organization Information Albina Opportunities Corporation (AOC) is a 501c3 nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution providing loans to small business owners that fulfill AOC s mission to serve businesses owned by women, minorities, the disabled, and immigrant populations, as well as businesses operating in low to moderate income census tracts. AOC provides small business term loans and lines of credit ranging from $20,000 to $200,000, business advisory support services, and access to a peer group support network, coupled with additional outside business networking resources that enable borrowers to expand their self-employment business ventures. Professional Opportunity AOC seeks an experienced, business-savvy professional to serve as Executive Director. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for managing a growing loan fund, expanding connections within the business community, raising funds for a sustainable business model, managing daily operations, and serving low to moderate income businesses. AOC will benefit from an individual with hands-on experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization, entrepreneurial instincts, and knowledge of Community Development Financial Institutions. AOC is a highly collaborative environment transitioning to the next level of professional operations and service to the community. Individuals with business acumen, nonprofit sensibility, operations management experience, and the drive to make community connections will be considered. Qualified candidates representing minority communities are encouraged to apply. AOC s next Executive Director will: Provide clear direction and outstanding leadership in achieving AOC s philosophy, mission, strategy, and objectives Embrace an entrepreneurial spirit in running a small business Serve as chief administrative officer in charge of all business, financial, and operations elements In collaboration with the Board of Directors, define organizational vision and set strategic direction Steward the consistent achievement of annual and long-term financial objectives Set goals, manage financial systems, and track and report all financial data

2 Generate contributed and investment revenue through targeted cultivation, direct solicitation, and strategic partnerships Enable the Board of Directors to successfully fulfill its governance function Provide oversight of programs and manage staff in the delivery of AOC programs Expand the network of prospective program participants Engage with the public, including individual, corporate and foundation supporters Coordinate public communications and lead community outreach activities Exhibit strategic thinking in resolving organizational challenges, and creativity in seeking new opportunities Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field Manage all human resources functions Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated outstanding leadership experience with a minimum of five years of relevant administrative, programmatic and operations management expertise in a nonprofit or similarly relevant setting Bachelor s Degree required; Master s degree preferred Experience with a Community Development Financial Institution or organization within a similar industry preferred This is a full-time, salaried position with flexible hours depending on the needs of the job and requirements of the organization. Expected Salary: $70,0000-$72,000 per year, plus benefits. DETAILED POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Administration Financial, Tax and Risk Management Direct financial activities and make decisions based on plans and policies developed in concert with the Board of Directors Oversee/supervise all bookkeeping, accounting and financial activities Ensure that AOC is fiscally sound and that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work

3 Develop and maintain sound financial practices Recommend an annual budget for Board approval and prudently manage the organization s resources within those budget guidelines according to current nonprofit laws and regulations Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations Establish rigorous accountability standards for grant and budget tracking Jointly, with the Chair and Secretary of the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents Human Resource Management Recruit, manage, inspire, motivate, listen to and empower a strong staff team Prepare for anticipated growth of the organization and related staffing needs Develop, update and implement appropriate human resource policies and procedures, including job descriptions, training, career development, hiring and firing, succession planning, and performance management for all staff, conforming with current laws and regulations Oversee an appropriate organizational structure and ensure that programmatic objectives are supported internally, including facilities, technology, finances, communication, and functional needs Support inclusive annual strategic planning processes and ensure planning decisions are used in setting annual program/project goals Promote an organizational culture that fosters passion for the mission, cooperation, open and frequent communication, teamwork, and a common organizational vision which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people Board Administration and Support Work closely with AOC s Board of Directors to recruit, train, and maintain a strong, balanced Board of Directors Promote Board of Directors engagement in critical thinking, strategic planning, resource and financial development, membership development, and overall organizational wellness Serve as the primary staff liaison with the Board of Directors

4 See that the Board of Directors is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important influencing factors Reporting Create all reports required by funding sources, the Board of Directors or Bylaws. Such reports include, but are not limited to: Bi-Monthly Executive Director s Reports Regular progress evaluation Minutes of all board meetings Grant and stakeholder reports delivered on schedule Annual federal and state reports and tax returns Operations Program, Product and Service Delivery Oversee design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services in a manner consistent with AOC s mission and strategic plan Community and Public Relations Assure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with similar development organizations Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public Strategic Planning Give vision and leadership to the strategic and day-to-day program implementation at AOC

5 Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and that it makes consistent and timely progress against stated goals and objectives Provide leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the Board Design and obtain Board consensus for goals and objectives and obtain their assistance in implementing these goals and objectives Provide leadership in choosing which tasks to undertake to achieve the goals and objectives and assign priorities to those tasks Public Policy Position AOC as an effective, vital, local revolving loan fund and economic development organization Represent AOC at all appropriate public functions and make effective public presentations Establish and maintain contacts with key individuals in both the public and private sectors Communicate effectively with local, regional, and state legislators and congressional offices Ensure the representation of AOC s concerns to local, state and federal policy makers, task forces, and funding bodies Assure professional relationships with individuals and organizations which share a stake in small business and economic development in Oregon Funding Fundraising, Grant Writing, Membership Dues, Fee-for-Service Develop and sustain a diverse funding base with an emphasis on individual, corporate and foundation giving and investments Identify resource requirements, research funding sources, establish strategies to approach funders, submit proposals, and generate fundraising records and documentation Other Duties as Assigned The Executive Director shall perform other duties as prescribed by AOC s Board of Directors.
