Abadía Retuerta Winery s vineyards dominate the landscape; verdant in summer, crimson in fall and snow-dusted in winter. If the heart of the estate is the winery, its soul is the ancient 12th-century Abbey, a beloved and carefully restored Spanish cultural heritage site. 4 Rooms In the ancient hall, LeDomaine s twenty-two rooms and suites have been carefully renovated and styled to contemporary five-star standards with every amenity you d expect in a luxury hotel. Each room has generous views overlooking wide expanses of vineyards and vividly changing Spanish skies. Establishing symbiotic harmony between people and nature was fundamental in Romanesque architecture, and essential to the lifestyle of the monks as well. Quiet harmony resonates throughout the whole of LeDomaine.

5 El Refectorio Contemporary elegance within the centuries-old dining hall of the monks makes our restaurant the embodiment of old and new, traditional and contemporary. Our gourmet chef reinvents classic Spanish cuisine daily. Seasonal produce grown in the Abbey orchard is combined with products from around the world in recipes based on regional traditions but enhanced with creative ingenuity. Wines created exclusively for LeDomaine, and never to be offered elsewhere, are featured on the restaurant wine list alongside our award-wining Abadía Retuerta wines. Wines of neighboring estates and a selection of the world s most admired choices are offered as well.

6 Abadía Retuerta Wines Award-winning Abadía Retuerta Winery is considered one of Europe s most innovative wineries. It s situated in the heart of Spain s finest winemaking district. The 204 hectare of vineyards are planted with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. This combination plus the rich diversity of influences in terroir result in five distinctive and aromatic wines: Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial, Pago Negralada, Pago Valdebellón, Pago Garduña and Petit Verdot. Vinoteca Restaurant Our guests may taste the selection of wines in the Vinoteca. Visitors are welcome to experience the unique atmosphere of LeDomaine while tasting wines and enjoying tapas.

7 Bars and Lounges In addition to the contemporary Vinoteca, LeDomaine has two unique lounges for guests. Sala Capitular, once the chapter house, is highly decorated with archivolts and ornamental columns an extraordinarily romantic place for drinks before and after dinner in the Refectorio. Upstairs, an entirely different mood awaits in El Salón, the gracious and comfortable contemporary fireplace lounge that boasts its own private bar.

9 Conference facilities LeDomaine is an ideal place for an exclusive business retreat. Our business center provides the most advanced IT technology. The conference room accomodates up to twenty and an additional meeting room for wine or business conferences accomodates twenty attendees as well. And of course there are all the unique charms of the estate grounds to make business a pleasure: the excellent accomodations and services for relaxing; the restaurant, menu, room service and wines for dining; the bars and lounge for socializing; the work-out rooms for rejuvenation; and our Hedge Museum for a cultural experience unique in the contemporary art world.

10 Abadía Retuerta Church The marriage of aristocracy and piety brought about the Abbey in 1145, when the Lord of Valladolid s wealthy daughter Doña Mayor donated terras et vineas or land and vines to the church. The Premonstratensian Order, founded by St. Norbert in France, took its name from its original home, Prémontré Abbey. Abadía Santa Maria de Retuerta was built in 1146 as an outstation of the original French home. It was one of the first Spanish monasteries established by the order. Baroque and Romanesque in style, it has a classic Benedictine layout of church, cloister, refectory, chapterhouse and hospedería. It is a treasured Spanish cultural heritage site and cultural events and concerts still take place on occasion in the monastery. To alter this ancient edifice was to engage in a year-old architectural dialogue. The judicious restraint of my intervention, is my homage to those who spoke before me. Marco Serra, Architect.

11 The Hedge Museum In the middle of the fields east of the Abbey stands the newly built sculpture garden, an architecturally special museum whose walls are made of hedging. It houses the sculptures of contemporary German artist Ulrich Rückriem. Rückriem extracts massive stones from the earth and reassembles them on its surface. Process is the subject fundamental to the artist s work: the cleaving of buried stone to separate it from rock, the raising of it to the earth s surface, and the deliberate hewing, splitting, grinding, polishing and positioning of the massive bodies. With three exceptions the sculptures here were Rückriem s own, a personal archive which thus afford our guests a unique perspective on this renowned artist s oeuvre and life s work.
