2 What is CIMAC CIMAC - The International Council on Combustion Engines CIMAC is a worldwide non-profit association with members in 26 countries in America, Asia and Europe It brings together manufacturers of diesel and gas engines and gas turbines, users such as shipowners, utilities and rail operators and also suppliers, oil companies, classification societies and scientists The Mission of CIMAC is to promote exchange of scientific and technical information via its Congresses and CIMAC Circles improve understanding between engine manufacturers and users improve understanding between manufacturers and suppliers focus upon and promote the work and activities of National Member Associations promote exchange on technological developments in a pre-competition state, e.g. in its Working Group meetings contribute to internationally applied technological standards and publications, and collaborate with other International Associations 2

3 CIMAC structure CIMAC's organisational structure is based on: CIMAC Council CIMAC Board CIMAC Working Groups The CIMAC Council, which formulates CIMAC's policy, takes policy decisions and controls implementation, consists of the National Member Associations, each having two seats in the Council, and the Corporate Members, each having one seat per country in the Council. The CIMAC Executive Board has clearly defined responsibilities and implements CIMAC's policy. Its members are responsible for the day to day business of CIMAC. They are elected by the CIMAC Council for a tenure of three years until the next CIMAC Congress. 3

5 CIMAC members To become a member of CIMAC it is necessary to join a national CIMAC organisation, known as a National Member Association (NMA). If no NMA exists in the country, there is the possibility for companies or institutions either to become a Corporate Member (CM) of CIMAC or, if there exists one in the country, to join a National Member Group (NMG). Exhibition The Congress will be accompanied by an exhibition where companies and institutions can present their technologies and products. Technical Visits The Congress is followed by visits to local industry on Friday of the Congress week. Social Events An official reception, gala dinner and traditional company receptions are scheduled for the evenings.
