Review of EI. -What is it? -Why is it important? 10 minutes Slide Set 2. Demonstrate an understanding of the role emotional intelligence plays in undergraduate medical education. 3. Describe a scenario where emotional intelligence is essential to a better outcome Short review of the literature on the assessment of EI in undergraduate medical education. Video of a clinical scenario. 10 minutes Slide Set Bibliography available. 10 minutes Video demonstration. Discussion
5 Workshop Objectives Objective Content Time Frame Teaching Method 4. Demonstrate how to apply emotional intelligence to a clinical educational scenario 1. Break audience into 4-5 groups. Each group works on applying the principles of emotional intelligence to their assigned scenario. Presenters move among groups to offer assistance. 15 minutes Small group exercise: exploring individual EI 2. Each group reports on their experience in working through their assigned scenario Presenters offer feedback on each group s application of emotional intelligence to their scenario. 15 minutes Large group exercise Discussion Feedback
